Console/command line output
...t;< endl;
and:
Rprintf("info\n");
Both work fine when R is run on the command line but neither works when
running Raqau (I did check the preference boxes for console and error output
to be written to the console).
Can anyone confirm this behavior of Raqua?
Any suggestions welcome,
Ingmar

Convert timeseries to transition matrix
...3,2,2),2,2)
> tr
[,1] [,2]
[1,] 2 2
[2,] 3 2
Meaning that there are two transitions from 1 to 1, two from 1 to 2, three
from 2 to 1 and two from 2 to 2.
Using for loops etc this is of course no problem, but I am curious whether
there is a smarter solution.
Any hints appreciated, Ingmar

Barplot legend position
...ght, however the data are
plotted there too. I tried controlling the legend position by adding
x="topleft" but this results in an error that x matches multiple formal
arguments.
Leaving out the legend and making a separate call to legend leaves out the
colors of bars ...

Have download.packages consider non-CRAN repositories
...et the
role of R_HOME/etc/repositories or is it possible I made a mistake?
A related question is this: my PMR2 repo provides source packages
only. Is there a way to tell a lokal R installation to look for source
packages _only_ for this specific repo and use binary packages for
CRAN?
Thanks a lot

constraints
Is there a package in R that handles general linear (in-)equality + box
constrained optimization?
If it is not there, could anyone advise me which way to go?
And/or point me to packages that solve these problems partially?

bus error macosx/off-topic
...owever I do get occasional bus errors around the time of exiting one of the

Where do I need to be looking to solve this problem?
Do bus errors stem from unmapped memory exceptions? How can I find out if
that is what is happening while running R?
Any hints greatly appreciated.

Error: package 'tcltk' could not be loaded

Also, tcltk is not listed in the package list but tcltk2 is so I'm

here?
What can I do about this?

fitdistr question
Hello,
I tried to fit a poisson distribution but looking at the function
fitdistr() it does not optimize lambda but simply estimates the mean
of the data and returns it as lambda. I'm a bit confused because I was
expecting an optimization of this parameter to gain a good fit...
If I would use mle() of stats4 package or mle2() of bbmle package, I
would have to write the function by myself

help files and vignettes
...er, this takes quite some time given that I
have 6 or so .Rd files. Especially when updating them, adding functions and
so forth, this process of generating the Rd2.tex files and then copying and
pasting into the vignette source is quite tedious.
In short, is there a faster way of doing this?

information matrix in random effects model
...of individual contributions:
Sum_i H_i = H,
where H_i are the contributions of each case to the Hessian matrix H.
Are these individual contributions computed somewhere in either of the
functions to estimate random effects models, and is it possible to extract
them somehow from the fitted objects?

Reshaping dataframes
...better/faster way to do it? It would also be great to be able to
distinguish factor columns from numeric columns and use a special numeric
value there. The current version of rbind.fill makes no direct reference to
the fill value so that I could change its implementation for my purpose.
Thanks!

randomLCA
Can anybody, please, explain me how many parameter are estimated using
randomLCA?
For examples, model "dentistry.lca2random" estimate 1 scale (or
variance, b_j) parameter and 2 position parameters (a_cj)? Doesn't
it?
Do I need at least 4 diagnostic tests for such a model?
What happens if I specify options blocksize and byclass? How many
diagnostic tests (or rater) I need?

Time-Ordered Clustering

Does anyone know of a package that performs constraint-based clusters?
Ideally the package could perform "Time-Ordered Clustering", a technique
applied in a recent journal article by Runger, Nelson, Harnish (using MS
Excel). Quote, "in our specific implementation of constrained
clustering, the clustering algorithm remains agglomerative and
hierarchical, but observations

Rd.sty error
...[1]{\ifmmode\bm{#1}\else\textbf{#1}\fi}
This is on Max OS X 3.9 and R 2.0.1
Has anyone seen this before and/or is it problematic? I'm not sure whether
the output suffers from this but it does create a problem with R CMD check
because tex produces a warning/error there.
any hints are welcome, ingmar
