RE: Converting to 1.1.4, help please!
My FLAC files reside on my Infrant NV (XRAID) and are also backed up on my PC and on an external USB HDD. That makes 3 copies. I've read most everything on the FLAC site, but as I have mentioned I don't know much about structuring a command line. My PC is also quite old (early P4 from 2000 w/256MB RAM) so I think it will t...

OT: Replacing Venerable NAS
I have an original-label Infrant (now NetGear) ReadyNAS storage appliance that's been running for 8+ years. Except for replacing its power supply, it has not skipped a beat in all this time. I use it primarily as a backup device (via NFS) for a couple of Linux machines, (via SMB) for a couple of Windows PC's, and (via...

Raid-Z expansion
Apologies for the blank message (if it came through). I have heard here and there that there might be in development a plan to make it such that a raid-z can grow its "raid-z''ness" to accommodate a new disk added to it. Example: I have 4Disks in a raid-z[12] configuration. I am uncomfortably low on space, and would like to add a 5th disk. The idea is to pop in disk 5 and have

OT: Replacing Venerable NAS
We're using Synology boxes with good results so far. They're built on Linux with ssh access and good support for things like rsync. They have options to backup to remote servers including Amazon too. Converting to 1.1.4, help please!
...uld someone post a link to instructions or else provide them here? FYI: Each of my CDs is encoded into it's own folder (folder name = Artist - Title (year)) Example: A Perfect Circle - eMOTIVe (2004) The corresponding tracks from each CD are in their respective folders I store my FLACs on an Infrant NV and stream them wirelessly to my 3 Slimdevices (2 SB3s and a Transporter) players. I also use an old Rio Karma to play my FLAC files while traveling. Thanks in advance for your help, it is greatly appreciated. ...ver forums and people have posted other solutions. as for that bug that required the test step first, that was fixed in flac-1.1.4; especially if you already have a backup, I wouldn't worry about the extra test step. --- Tim <ht_nut@earthlink.net> wrote: > My FLAC files reside on my Infrant NV (XRAID) and are also backed up > on my PC and on an external USB HDD. ...ndle wildcards ... or you could look into some of those batch files that you've found. I'm just pointing out that not everyone is in the same boat, so not everyone can tell you what commands will work for you. The best motherboard for a home ZFS fileserver
I''m a fan of ZFS since I''ve read about it last year. Now I''m on the way to build a home fileserver and I''m thinking to go with Opensolaris and eventually ZFS!! Apart from the other components, the main problem is to choose the motherboard. The offer is incredibly high and I''m lost. Minimum requisites should be: - working well with Open Solaris ;-) -
