HFSPlus Question
...installed anywhere, so I suspect not. My sister's 17" iMac died, and I'm trying to recover the drive. If it spins up, I'd like to copy it with dd. I see that Elrepo has kmod-hfsplus and hfsplus-tools, will these work with the Plus kernel? I still have to pull the drive from that infernal iMac case, so can't test yet. Thank you for any clues, my Google-foo isn't finding anything on the Plus kernel and HFSPlus. --- I yam Popeye of the Borg. Prepares ta beez askimiligrated.

Odd Question
...h = /home/johnny read only = No guest ok = Yes [monkey] comment = Test Share on the Samba machine path = /tmp read only = No guest ok = Yes hosts allow = 192.168.10 Which is pretty light security-wise. This machine -does- show up in NT's infernal 'Network Neighborhood' browser as 'Mail'. However, when I attempt to access it, NT pops up a little window asking me for my username/password. No matter what I try here, I get an error. Trying it from the vastly more useful smbclient that came with Samba, Here's what I get: [ro...

paste together object names to pass it on to a function
Hello, I have a maybe trivial question, but I simply don't understand well enought how to work with text/strings: I have a rather compelx data structure, a big list with several sub-lists/dataframes and for certain calculations (which I do in loops), I only need a certain group of sub-lists/dataframes, which I want to specify with a name vector and paste together the object name and pass it

__attribute__((apple_abi)): targeting Apple/ARM64 ABI from Linux (and others)
...do such a thing, the current implementation and some remaining questions I have about this (like "isn't this a terrible idea"). Motivation ========== The motivation comes a bit from far away, I'll try to make it quick. We have various libraries that targets what I call the "infernal combo", that is Android/iOS/OSX/Windows/Linux, for every major architectures that are supported by these OS. For iOS, we thus need to support armv7/arm64 and all their flavors. As we like to test things, we have to run at some points binaries under iOS/{armv7,arm64}, which is not something rea...
