How to compute 95%CI for OR from logistic regression?
Hi all:
My data has 3 variables:
age(3levels : <30y=1 30-50y=2, >50y=3)
gender(Male=0, Female=1)
CD4 cell count(raw lab measurement)
y(1:death 0:alive)
I perform logistic regression to find out the factors that influence y.
result<-glm(y ~ factor(age) + factor(gender) + CD4,family = binomial)

clogit question
Hi,
I am playing with
clogit(case~spontaneous+induced+strata(stratum),data=infert)
from clogit help file.
This line works.
1. But, why strata(stratum) doesn't have a coefficient like spontaneous
and induced?
2. When I remove strata(stratum) from the command, this function seems
to keep running forever. Why?
3. I think the equation for clog...

bar plot colors
All,
I have a question regarding colors in bar plots. I want to stack a
total of 18 cost values in each bar. Basically, it is six cost types and
each cost type has three components- direct, indirect, and induced
costs. I would like to use both solid color bars and bars with the
slanted lines (using the density parameter). The colors would
distinguish cost types and the lines would distinguish
direct/indirect/induced. I want the cost types (i.e. colors) to be
stacked together for each cost type. In ot...

Livelock induced failure in blktap2.
We''ve been working on getting XEN 4.1.2 validated for internal use and
have run into what appears to be a livelock induced failure in
properly freeing a blktap2 device.
We ported the blktap2 driver from Dan Stodden''s GIT tree into 3.2.x
which is a reasonably straight forward process. We are also running
the toolchain with a patch which Ian Campbell posted in order to get
xl to properly terminate the tapdis...

Apply or Tapply to Build Set of Tables
Dear R Helpers,
First, I apologize for asking for help on the first of my topics. I have
been looking at the posts and pages for apply, tapply etc, and I know that
the solution to this must be ridiculously easy, but I just can't seem to
get my brain around it. If I want to produce a set of tables for all the
variables in my data, how can I do that without having to type them into
the table

igraph V a partir de E y subgrafos
Estimado Javier,
Me alegra que hayas avanzado con tu error.
Te respondo a esto último.
La función induced.subgraph() espera como segundo parámetro una lista de
los IDs de los vértices, mientras que tú le estás pasando una lista de
'edges'.
Prueba lo siguiente:
c <- induced.subgraph(datos.network, which(V(datos.network)$name == 'Casa'))
Si entendí bien todo, debería funcionar....

Genstat into R - Randomisation test
Hello everybody,
I have a question. I would like to get a correlation between
constitutive and induced plant defence which I messured on 30 plant
species. So I have table with Species, Induced defence (ID), and
constitutive defence (CD). Since Induced and constitutive defence are
not independant (so called spurious correlation) I should do a
randomisation test. I have a syntax of my supervisor...

problem with simple if() statement
the following code apprantely, for some grand old reason, induces a syntax error:
if (seq[i] = "A") m <- trans[1,]
where seq is a vector and trans is a matrix. I cannot for the life of me see why this is wrong. Syntax error is:
Error: syntax error in "if (seq[i] ="

Hi,
I don't intentionally want to induce a tramp, the load null is created by
an llvm optimization
pass from code like:

[PATCH V3 0/2] [BUGFIX] virtio/console: Fix two bugs of splice_write
Hi,
This patch set fixes two bugs of splice_write in the virtio-console driver.
[BUG1] Although pipe->nrbufs is empty, the driver tries to do splice_write.
=> This induces oops in sg_init_table().
[BUG2] No lock for competition of splice_write.
=> This induces oops in splice_from_pipe_feed() by bug of any user
application.
These reports are written in each patch.
Changes in V2:

Computing time when calling C functions - why does an extra function call induce such an overhead?
Dear list,
I am a little puzzled by computing time in connection with calling C functions. With the function mysolve1 given below I solve Ax=B, where the actual matrix operation takes place in mysolve2. Doing this 5000 times takes 3.51 secs. However, if I move the actual matrix inversion part into mysolve1 (by uncommenting the two commented lines and skip the call to mysolve2) then the

Boxcox transformation / homogeneity of variances
...,
Prior to analysis of variance, I ran the Boxcox function (MASS library) to
find the best power transformation of my data. However, reading the Boxcox
help file, I cannot figure out if this function (through its associated
log-likelihood function) corrects for * normality only * or if it also
induces * homogeneity of variances *. I found in Biometry (Sokal and Rohlf,
p. 419) that the box-cox transformation can be extended to induce
homogenity of variances in conjunction with Bartlett's test of homogeneity
of variances. Does the Boxcox function implemented in R refer to this
extension...

glm binomial logit
Hi All,
I am using "glm" function to build logistic regression. I noticed that glm
function glm function is computing many other statistics which are not
required for our analysis. As our dataset is very big and we have to run
logistic regression on several samples the run time drastically increases
if all those statistics are computed. Is these any way to skip computation
in glm
