Citing an article from R News
The editorial in Volume 1/2 of R News requests that we cite articles in R News by using the ISSN 1609-3631 and the URL http://cran.R-project.org/doc/Rnews/. Could someone provide a sample BibTeX entry, say for Brian Ripley's article on "Installing R under Windows" from that issue? I am using the natbib package, if that matters. I would start with @Article{R:Ripley:2001, author = {Brian D. Ripley}, title = {Installing {R} under {W}indows}, journal = {R News}, year = 2001, volume = 1, number = 2, issn = {1609-3631}, u...

Problem with 401 Unauthorized
...I'm having some problems with a simple register. I'm not sure where to start even -- It seems that the problem is with the response to the digest authentication, but I'm not sure how to fix that. The log below is from linphone, but I see the exact same thing with kphone and xten from a indows box as well. I've tried changing the realm to the default "asterisk", or to my IP address, with the same results. Log below: *CLI> sip debug SIP Debugging Enabled *CLI> Sip read: REGISTER sip:192.168.1.100 SIP/2.0 Via: SIP/2.0/UDP 192.168.1.100:5060;branch=z9hG4bK1571536832...

Building a custom Windows installer
Dear r-devel list members, It's been several years since I last built a custom Windows installer for R, and despite my notes and the instructions in Sections 3.1.7 and D.4 of the R Installation and Administration Manual, I've run into a problem, receiving the following error message: ----------- snip ----------- C:\R\src\R-2.11.1\src\gnuwin32\installer>make myR IMAGEDIR=c:/t...

App intallation fails in Wine: Check your pif file
My wine installation works perfectly with many apps. However, when I am trying to install one Win app (Parashara's Light) through wine, I am getting the following error: <errorcode> 16 bit DOS subsystem: C:\windows\temp\dosshell.pif Invalid program file name. Check your pif file. The pif seems to be in some weird format. Cat produces following output: cat "/[path to wine dir]/C-Fake Windows /windows/temp/dosshell.pif" ?C-Install DOS shell ??COMMAND.COM ?P?MICROSOFT PIFEX?qWINDOWS 386 3.0?h??d(# WIN...

For many moons, now, my Samba-on-Linux server (presently Samba 2.0.6) has displayed some mildly annoying behavior (at least I think it is the Samba server...it might be the NT workstation), to wit, whenever I login on a Windows 95 workstation and browse over to the Samba server, it authenticates me transparently, whereas when I login on a Window NT box and browse over to the Samba server, I am prompted for a username and password before I can view the Samba server's shares. I use the same username and password on all...

Error messages? or what
I've been seeing this kind of crap now for some time, and only in the past couple of weeks did I realize I was using the Plus Kernel instead of the normal stock kernel. Could this have something to do with it? Messages also appear mentioning something about a PowerNow K-8, which I thought was something you'd see from an AMD processor, not a quad core intel 64 bit box. Any insight

Samba causing problems with NT tools
...ts can map them as \\barehostname\sharename. As an attempt at a partial workaround, I put "announce as = Win95" in the smb.conf, hoping that some of these tools would only connect to NT servers. I don't know if this has helped things yet, but I have noticed that it shows up as "Windows 95 Server" instead of "Windows 95 Workstation" in server manager. Is there a reason for this? Is it possible for it to look like a 95 workstation? I've also noticed that TAS advertises itself as "Lanman 2.2 Server". Perhaps this would be even more likely to make the NT...

how well will this work
Hi Folks, I find myself trying to expand a 2-node high-availability cluster from to a 4-node cluster. I'm running Xen virtualization, and currently using DRBD to mirror data, and pacemaker to failover cleanly. The thing is, I'm trying to add 2 nodes to the cluster, and DRBD doesn't scale. Also, as a function of rackspace limits, and the hardware at hand, I can't separate
