OT : sensible analysis of censored rank data
...form of Thurstone scaling. If I wrapped this in the function called by boot .. a unique ordination solution for each sample draw, mapped to 1="B has highest value"/ 0 otherwise .. then perhaps I might be on the right track. (I guess I would have to do something about scale flip/flop, indeterminacy). If this floundering around makes any sense to anyone .. perhaps someone who has worked with such data .. I'd appreciate some feedback. Regards -.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.- r-help mailing list -- Read http://www.ci.tuwien.ac.at/~hornik/R...

lm output
Hi All I am running a linear regression using the lm object. In the event that my independent variable is the same across all observations the regression slope is returned as an NA. For example, if I have the following y=c(10,12,17) x=c(5,5,5) lm = lm(y~x) produces the following Coefficients: (Intercept) x 13 NA Other than post-processing the results, is

...of unit variance, and that the errors be independent with variances \eqn{\Phi}{Phi}, the \emph{uniquenesses}. Thus factor analysis is in essence a model for the covariance matrix of \eqn{x}, \deqn{\Sigma = \Lambda^\prime\Lambda + \Psi}{Sigma = Lambda'Lambda + Psi} There is still some indeterminacy in the model for it is unchanged if \eqn{\Lambda}{Lambda} is replaced by \eqn{G\Lambda}{G Lambda} for any orthogonal matrix \eqn{G}. Such matrices \eqn{G} are known as \emph{rotations} (although the term is applied also to non-orthogonal invertible matrices). If \code{covmat} is suppl...
