Problem with RJS and/or Prototype.js =>ResponseText is blank
...the controller directly, thus rendering the javascript in plain text. If I get rid of the RJS and render a partial and use :update => "comments" in my form_remote_tag then it does the same thing but renders the html partial. You can check it out by going to the site itself at http://indecipherable.co.uk/home/index/welcome-to-indecipherable/ Click add comment to show the form and off you go. The server is mongrel (on my dev box as well, though it does the same with webrick). I''ve looked at Firebug and the request goes off ok but no responseText comes back. The RJS code looks like...

Help reading matrixmarket files
I'm trying to read data a program produces in matrixmarket array format into R and its giving me fits. I've tried read.MM (below) and readMM (from the Matrix package) but neither works. One of them says array format isn't supported, the other reports something indecipherable about Fortran. Here's the file contents. Can't get much simpler than that! %%MatrixMarket matrix array real general > %This file contains LIBFM global mean which is required for computing > predictions. > 1 1 > 1.786238830716e-02 Can someone please help? Seems such a simple...

reference class internals
I have a question about reference classes, which someone here undoubtedly can answer immediately, saving me hours of wading through indecipherable internal code. :-) Thanks in advance. Reference class data is mutable, fine, but in what sense? Is it really physical, or is it just a view given to the programmer? If for instance I have vector as a field in a reference class, and I change one element of the vector, is it really true that...

Rename Computer In Samba Domain: Access Is Denied
...named user from fog$ to hog$ but attempting via the Windows GUI, System Properties|Computer Name|Change... keeps failing with the "Access Is Denied" message box. Any clue what else could be missing or how to diagnose. I tried "log level = 3" but found the output to be virtually indecipherable, no obvious way to correlate any output with the rename operation in question. To be sure, my rename user scipt line is rename user script = /usr/sbin/usermod --login='%unew' '%uold'

[LLVMdev] Can't Bootstrap llvm-gcc4.2 on Ubuntu 11.04 32-bit
I can't bootstrap llvm-gcc4.2 on Ubuntu 11.04 32-bit. It's not a test failure; instead the configure scripts break in all kinds of mysterious yet spectacular ways. I spent a couple days beating my head against those completely indecipherable shell scripts then gave up for now. Is there a buildbot that runs Ubuntu 11.04? If not may I suggest that one be set up? A minimal Ubuntu installation could be run in a VM and need not use much disk space. I do realize that I don't need to bootstrap on Ubuntu, but that I could use the llvm-...

RE: Difference in Encoding of files on Pocket PCvis-à-vis desktop
..., I get a message "This doesn't look like a Speex file". However, when I decode the Pocket PC encoded file on Pocket PC, it plays fine. Same applies for the file encoded on the desktop. If I decode the desktop encoded file on Pocket PC, I get a completely broken sound that is totally indecipherable, but it plays fine when decoded on the desktop. Isn't it possible to decode a desktop encoded file on Pocket PC? Do I have to make change some settings? Thanks a lot for your help. Thanks & regards, Asheesh <p><p>-----Original Message----- From: Jean-Marc Valin [mailto:Jean...

Image viewer refuses to print TIF graphics
...OME, v 2.16.0.1) has responded to a print command on certain TIFs with nothing. Nothing shows up in the spool queue for the printer, and, although the printer (a Brother 2140 laser printer) heats up, it doesn't print anything at all. Now, this is better than it printing hundreds of pages with indecipherable gobbledygook on them, but I'd really prefer the image itself. Any ideas on what it might be? My "standard" solution is to use either tiff2pdf or Adobe Photoshop Elements (in my virtual WIndows box) to convert them to PDFs, which then print just fine, but that's a real annoyance...

Viewing QT .mov files in Totem
CentOS-5.1 Is there anything special one must do to get the Totem shipped with CentOS-5 to display .mov files? When I try to view a file I get an error box with the message: Totem could not play 'file:///tmp/073_complex_forms_part_1.mov'. Could not decode stream." # rpm -qi totem Name : totem Relocations: (not relocatable) Version :

NetworkManager on servers
Hi, I'm currently reading the upstream "Considerations in adopting RHEL 8" document. The chapter about networking states that traditional networking scripts (shipped with the network-scripts package) are considered obsolete. I bluntly admit I don't see the point in this. As far as I'm concerned, I've been a happy user of NetworkManager since the early days (when

Just need to vent
Sometimes the direction of UI development in gnome really angers me. For example, when selecting a font for the gedit text editor - there is no way to ask it to only show monospace fonts. It's a fricken text editor, that should be the default - meaning you have to do something special to get fonts shown that aren't monospace. Seriously, who is in charge with the UI design in gnome?

A challenge from a CMS implementer
Hey guys RoR evangelists keep telling us that they have the #1 framework for developing webapps. OK, but show us something that works and is useful to many people out there. I could be wrong, but it doesn''t seem as if there is anything that qualifies, as yet? So I''ve got a little challenge for you: come up with a decent plugin WYSIWYG visual editor for CMS. There are several
