Whoa, Mark. Man, you must be tired. The fact that your machine with
the 290 driver only sees the kmod-nvidia for 295 and does not see
nvidia-x11-drv is a big clue.
You might want to double check the includepkgs= line on the machine you
originally posted about (not this latest machine), and make sure that it
isn't:
includepkgs=nvidia-x11-drv
I can duplicate this behavior very easily, and can duplicate the reverse
behavior as well, by manipulating the includepkgs= line. Here's an
example run, fro...

Small correction in CentOSPlus (AdditionalResources/Repositories/CentOSPlus)
Hi,
Small correction there.
Example 4 of section 2 (how to use XFS with CentOSPlus kernel) says
you should use this configuration line in [centosplus] section of yum:
includepkgs=kernel* xfs* dmapi*
However, the XFS module's package name is kmod-xfs*, so I believe it
should actually be:
includepkgs=kernel* kmod-xfs* xfs* dmapi*
I did this on a system of mine, and in the first case it did not
include an update for the kmod, just for the kernel, the second one
worked...

other repositories question
Hello.
I would like to know how other repositories than the official ones for
CentOS 4 affect an update of a package if a package is present in both
repositories.
Will yum install the package that it finds having the highest version number
? and if so, is there a mean to tell yum that we would like to keep the
preference to one repository instead of the highest version number on a

My current issue building the latest firefox is the required rust version.
In the [sclo-rh] section of the epel-7 mock config I change line:
includepkgs=devtoolset*
to
includepkgs=devtoolset* llvm-toolset* rust-toolset*
Current rust is 1.20 and configure will stop asking for 1.24.

What I miss in yum.conf
Is there an chance how to include an package from "checking" of repository?
I can do exclude, but especialy from so big repositories as DAG I want
include just a that few which are interesting for me.
Is there any way how to do it?

proper usage of global variables / node variables / +=

finding all sorts of messages saying to avoid using +=, to avoid using
variables in the node scope, and to switch to a parameterized class
whenever possible. Okay, I''m game.
So, to understand what I''m doing, I''m setting up a yum repository and
limiting the includepkgs line to the very minimum amount of packages for
reasons of security / policy / insanity / etc.
Here is the current implementation of this (which works fine).

Yum, duplicate packages, 4.3->4.4 upgrade.
...'yum remove ...' or are
there some packages that require special care?
4. I have enabled the dries, kbsingh, and rpmforge, repositories
for few packages (acroread, pine,...). However, I didn't
keep track which packages come from those repos so I can't
apply the 'includepkgs' instruction on them. What's the
easiest way to recover that information? (Default
'yum list installed' doesn't provide the repository.)
Thanks in advance,
Itay

...ved since yesterday,
and postgresql). I expected that at some point I would have to ask for help
here on the list, but no, it turns out that my need was foreseen and provided
for at: http://dev.centos.org/centos/4.2/CentOS-Testing.repo.
Which, after suitably modifying with the addtion of an "includepkgs="
directive works beautifully.
So instead of asking for help I am writing to thank you all.

Any hope of an OpenOffice.org v2 release in testing?

Setting includepkgs=php* in the Centos-Plus repo resolves this problem.

exclude in a repo file
Hi All,
I just discovered that the remi repo has updated versions
of firefox. This is good news, but it leads me to a
question.
Is it possible to exclude all packages except one or two
in a repo file? The man page for yum.conf didn't give me
any hints. I tried unsuccessfully adding this line:
exclude=!firefox*,!xulrunner*
Is there a way to set up this repo so that when I run
"yum
