ssh/scp lib
Does anyone know of a libssh package or tarball or does it only come in a single package right now. It would be really nice to see this protocol spread to other progs other than ssh/scp itself(i.e kde browser, zope,etc..). Am I alone on this one and have to split it up myself or am I stepping on toes for someone else who has already done this? [Icarus] Factor (aka Daniel Yount) factorf2 at

FIPS 140-2 certification
Hello everyone! I work for a company that uses OpenSSH to remotely support systems we've sold. Since some of our clients are US Dept. of Defense hospitals, our access to these servers needs to comply with a whole range of requirements and standards. At this point it's looking like the SSH daemon needs to be FIPS 140-2 compliant, and the only package that is certified is F-Secure.

8.2 ->8.3 regression on disk writes

As in: What's already running stays running, no crashes or anything, but as soon as I need to read from disk (login, start program not cached in memory from previous run), I'm

AIX reading /etc/environment out of step.
I was discussing with Don about a private topic..and while skimming the code I noticed that during a 'ssh mouring at site ls' the /etc/environment is *ONLY* read if the remote machine is an AIX box. This is undocumented and I'm wondering if someone using AIX could explain WHY it exists in the session.c:do_child()? No other OS has this. I don't see why AIX should require it.

Samba can't keep NT shares mounted
I don't know who this problem belongs to, samba or Linux, but it's a common one, judging by the responses in my INBOX to a previous post. Plus, it's a fairly serious one; many applications require smb shares to be mounted continuously and without interruption. It's been a recurring problem which seems to have been pushed off to the side as not important, even though it's a
