GitHub Survey - Results
...personal pick of the comments.
http://people.linaro.org/~renato.golin/LLVM%20Move%20to%20GitHub.zip
I tried to focus on less on the positive comments and more on the
negative ones for all topics, because they're the ones that will make
the difference. I've also tried hard to be completely impartial, just
presenting the results.
If you haven't yet submitted, please do. We'll be looking at the data
and sharing it on the Bof. Mehdi will collate the BoF results and once
the survey is finally closed, I'll share the raw results again.
Enjoy!

[PATCH] Website comparison + fix IE
...e I wrote
a comparison for Hydrogenaudio in the past) and its ready now. Because
the patch is pretty large, I've placed it here:
http://www.icer.nl/misc_stuff/update-comparison-and-fix-IE-news.patch.zip
The reason to do this is because the current test is outdated and to me
it did not seem impartial. The patch gets rid of a lot of files on the
FLAC website because the in-depth comparison is now a PDF instead of a
lot of loose pages. I've tried to make comparison.html as short and as
readable as possible. The table has been expanded with other codecs
(like WMA Lossless and Realaudio Los...

[LLVMdev] [RFC] New ToolsSupport library for stuff that only tools need
...1 to this.
I'd slightly prefer a separate library (though moving the code vs not
moving the code I'm relatively apathetic about), but just because I hate
conditional compilation.

[LLVMdev] [RFC] New ToolsSupport library for stuff that only tools need
There is no real technical requirement for this. Currently we work around the signal handlers by building with ENABLE_CRASH_OVERRIDES=NO, and carrying along the command line parsing code and ToolOutputFile isn’t really a big drain.
This seemed to me like the cleanest way to accomplish a goal of mine. The goal I have is to be able to build an LLVM dylib and llc/opt/etc from the same CMake

Debian vs. Red Hat
Can anyone provide me with their (fairly) impartial opinion on which major
current distribution (Debian 1.2 or Red Hat 4.0) provides better security?
I have heard a lot of people sticking up for their favorite, but few real
facts/insights on them from a security point of view. Red Hat seems to be
favored by novices for no-brainer installation and g...

Where are the Portable Devices at vorbis.com ?
Hi Vorbis-ers,
It has been a while since I have checked out the Ogg Vorbis resources.
http://vorbis.com is looking great!
It is a shame though that portable (and other devices) that support Ogg
Vorbis well are not celebrated on the home page. I know there is an
extensive list at http://wiki.xiph.org/index.php/PortablePlayers, but it is
overwhelming in its completeness, and may not be immediately

I’ve looked at Refinery (seems really out of date) and locomotive and a few
others. Comfy seems the only one that is making an effort to stay up with
the latest rails. I may be wrong - just an initial impression.
Any thoughts? Just looking for an impartial recommendation for an
“experienced newbie” as it were.
Best,

Other problems that I've had with Airtime were:
- empty streams; just silence, because...... RabbitMQ I guess
- the UI said the radio was on-air, but everything in the back was just
sitting
- sync-ing into the DB always failed when I had non-ASCII filenames (bad
Python scripting); I had impartial files in Airtime because of that;

I think (and it's a bit evil of me to say this without having contributed
to Airtime) that it sho...

At least gptmbr.bin might come to mind (after all, GPT is part of the
UEFI specs). Isohybrid with UEFI options perhaps too?

prevent, from a potential BIOS-mode boot (or from some GPT-unaware
tool), screwing up the GPT structures. IOW, the "Protective MBR
partition table" (and its "constraints") for UEFI is not really a
requirement for booting in UEFI mode itself, and it is _not_ an
"impartial standard" within the UEFI specs.

Without impartial data gathering, followed by compilation of the data, can an effective discussion happen.
In fact I hope the proposal has an alternatives considered section that lists all alternatives and a section that lists all impacts on other people, rather than just the specific proposal.

Encryption
Hi All,
I am using rsync to backup our office server to our Internet server (RHE).
As an association for doctors we are looking at providing a backup service
for their practices using rsync. As it would be patient data it would need
to be encrypted. I have found a few options, namely

Does anyone have experience with the above and perhaps like to recommend
