Ntconfig.pol policies not applied immediatly after been read
hi,
My NTconfig.pol file into \\netlogon share seems to be good...
in the logs the file is readed with no problem at my user logon.
The strange think I have is that the policy I've made is applied if my
user loggon onto a windows 2003 server we have for testing purpose ! (If
I loggon first onto my win2k machine, the policy is not applied ...)
logging after onto my win2k computer takes

Odd failure of smbd to start from init.d - CentOS 5.4
...e've got a fresh CentOS 5.4 box, and the only glitch so far is that
/etc/init.d/smb doesn't start smbd. It claims it does - shows "[ok]" - but
only nmbd ends up running. Even setting a higher debugging level in the smbd
flags, nothing logs or shows on the console as to why smbd is immediatly
quitting.
To make it stranger, doing this works fine:
. /etc/init.d/functions
daemon smbd -D
That's the core of how the /etc/init.d/smb file is set up to start it.
Except from there it's not working - despite the reported "[ok]".
Anyone seen this, or have advice on how to...

Asterisk Crashing; Not getting Core dumps
This is frustrating. Asterisk has crashed now twice today and neither crash
has produced a core file. My ulimit is unlimited.
I'm using safe_asterisk so asterisk is restarting immediatly, but how the
hell am I suposed to find out wtf happened with no core file? Debug log
doesn't say anything either.

immediate pick up in "s"
I'm configuring a sip trunk. My problem is if I configure the sip
device to dial to a sip phone, it works ok but when I dials to "s" or
"7777", asterisk picks up the call immediatly and places it's own ring
tone instead of waiting until one of the extension configured for
answer the call picks up.
Is there a way to avoid it? Is it a problem of the sip trunk? Should I
post this question to devel list?

how to define a key to decline incoming call
...incoming
call WITHOUT answering.
Pressing that key, a "SIP/2.0 486 Busy Here" message is sent back.
We have other phones (I.E. DECT Siemens C450IP, or ATCOM 320 or other)
which DO NOT have any key to do that (or the key does not work, as is with
Siemens C450 IP ): you have to answer and immediatly after hangup the call.
Acting on feature.conf we succed in defining keys for blind transfer or
attended transfer: the last thing we need is the ability to drop an
incoming call without answering it. Is there any way to define a key (or
double-key, i.e. "*4") to send back a "SIP/2....

Lag on network using Samba
I am using Samba for a file server and get a lag when accessing files
across the network, I assume it is due to inactivity, because the first
file I access takes the longest to access, and then other files I access
immediatly after are much faster. If I do not access any files for a
while I get the problem again. It all works well, but I would really
like to get rid of this Lag when opening a file from the server.
Does anybody have any suggestions. Please keep it simple, new to Linux
;)

samba3: need to wait 3 minutes before login
Hi,
at our local computer pool in the school we've a samba3
server and about 40 winnt-4.0 workstations. the main
problem is, that the workstations have to wait for
about 3 minutes after they started, before a user can
login. in other words: the computer starts and if you
try to login then immediatly you'll get "domain manos
not available" or something like this. but if you wait
approximatly 3 minutes you are able to login successfully.
does anyone know about this problem and how we could solve
it ?
thank you,

R and Latex's tables
...I have discovered recently that graph can be exported from R in a Latex
compatible file
thanks to the pictex command
I would like to know if there is the equivalent while exporting datas.
Let's say I have a matrix, a data.frame or a list that I would like to
export as a flat text file that is immediatly transcripted into a table
into latex
Is there a macro or package that could transcript it with the tabular or
array environment command, ...
\begin{tabular/array}
..&.&. \\
etc
It would be easier than to use the write.table() function and then
transform my txt file into a latex table man...

Ignoring time spent waiting in queue in CDR
...then figure out the actual
duration by subtracting the time of the queue "CONNECT" record. That
seems messy and error-prone, and I'm hoping there's a better way.
I also looked at using the ResetCDR() or ForkCDR() dialplan functions,
but I don't see a way to cause code to run immediatly after the agent
answers a call from the queue.
Any suggestions? Am I missing some easy way of doing this?
Thanks!

Asterisk 11.2.1 / dahdi destroy channel / asterisk crashes

Update ezstream playlist 'on the fly'
Hi,
I'm using ezstream to stream a list of mp3 files to my icecast2 server
which works great. I'm using a m3u playlist file which ezstream reads
when it starts and rereads when it loops. The problem is that this
playlist is quite long and I would like to be able to inject a song
last minute some where in the playlist. I have two options at the
moment to do this:
- restart ezstream

Custom weight factors - pushing the relevancy ranking how we want it
...dvd etc. are
very popular.
Therefore, we are contemplating to build a "does this topic meet your
search?" feature to store which topics are most relevant to the queries
as defined by the users.
Other features could be a lame attempt at the PageRank relevancy,
storing if a user almost immediatly skips a topic (irrelevant) etc.
But, this needs to be stored (easy) and processed by Xapian in the sorting.
How could we go about this? Does Xapian somehow support these custom
weight factors?
