Delivering email to Maildir PreINBOX
.../home/vmail/%d/%n allow_all_users=yes driver = static } protocol lda { auth_socket_path = /var/run/dovecot/auth-master deliver_log_format = msgid=%m: %$ log_path = /home/vmail/dovecot-deliver.log } protocol imap { mail_max_userip_connections = 100 } I started to filter my email with imapfilter running on the same host as dovecot. I would therefore like to deliver email to a folder called PreINBOX so that imapfilter then sorts the email and ends up delivering only the useful email to INBOX. How can I change the name of the inbox dovecot delivers to? Best, -- Paulo Matos

Assertion failed in dovecot 0.99.14
Hi, I am using the dovecot imap server on Linux 2.6.8.1. I get the following error when running it: imap(quad): Panic: file index-sync.c: line 25 (index_storage_sync_size): assertion failed: (messages > ibox->synced_messages_count) This usually occurs when I use imapfilter to move messages from one folder to another, while my client (thunderbird) is connected. Master account
Hi, Is there an administrator o master account in dovecot, which could be able too access all mailboxes? I need to periodically delete some emails (older than a number of days). I wanted to use imapfilter, a program that uses imap to access mailboxes to do that, but as the users can change their passwords, I can't do it. Is there a way to do that? Thanks in advance, -- Diego.

...ay to deliver messages. With Dovecot LDA you could use the -m option. Thanks Steffen, How do you pass an option to dovecot lda. I can't really find out where it is called. There's a 15-lda file but doesnt have options to call the lda with. Future enhancement of imap: sorting?
...ail without having to leave outlook running 24x7? He doesn't want to have to wade through mailing list email on his mobile outlook, nor does he want to have to ensure his filter rules are consistent in both his outlook and our webmail. So, I poked around in the ports tree, and found a gem: imapfilter. http://imapfilter.hellug.gr/ It's configured via lua, supports a very rich array of actions and queries, and has proven to be very robust and lightweight. I helped him get started with some sample rules, added it to run every minute as a cron job, and boom: robust, fully featured, MUA i...

extended search
...rbird connected to it, my common searches (before: thunderbird's "save as folder" searches) are virtual folders. Everything works great, cpu usage is less than 1% (I have to say that I also moved many filtering rules (for sorting incoming messages to folders) from TB to be done by imapfilter, but the reason was mainly sorting flexibility and rescanning folders). If all is safe, would it be considered for addition in the future version? The patch is trivial, I can leave with patching every release, but I believe is a nice thing to have. Afaik, should not break IMAP SEARCH specs,...

IMAP flags not being committed properly?
I'm afraid I can't give steps to reproduce this, but if someone's come across something like this, it might help me figure out what's going on. I run imapfilter/offlineimap to fetch mail from a gmail to a local maildir store, which I then access with alpine via dovecot (1.2.15). Here's the output of dovecot -n: # 1.2.15: /etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf # OS: Linux 2.6.26-2-686 i686 Debian squeeze/sid ext3 log_path: /var/log/dovecot.log info_log_path: /var...

Syncronizing two IMAP servers
I spend time in two places, in different countries. I have a local network in each place, with IMAP servers on each network. I collect email by fetchmail from various servers, and read email on my laptop with KMail. I tried using just one IMAP server, but this proved impractical. So I have two collections of the same sub-folders, on the two servers. I have two questions: 1. Is there a simpler

Sort imap e-mail remotely
Hi all, I have a big e-mail box over at my provider. I receive a lot of e-mail every day (over 100), which are distributed into different imap-folders by thunderbird. The problem is that thunderbird must be running (offcourse) to be able to it's job. And for thunderbird to run, my (home)computer must be running. I have a CENTOS 5 server running also. Are there any programs out there that

How to move/reorganise existing e-mails to yearly subfolders
Hi all: I am new to e-mail servers and I am evaluating Dovecot. Not really the best combination. 8-) I am trying to find a balance between legal data retention requirements and online mailbox size. I do not want huge online mailboxes, as doing offline, rotating data backups could then take forever (among other reasons). I would rather avoid online (cloud) backups (data protection etc.). If I
