pxelinux limits on imagefile for tftp transfer?
Hello specialists
In setting up a diskless X-Terminal I got stuck with the transfer of the
ramdisk from the
server to the target.
With a ramdisk image size of about 60 Mb things go well, the file gets
transfered completely and Linux boots perfectly.
With a ramdisk image size of about 104 Mb the tftp transfer of the
kernel succeds but
the transfer of the ramdisk image fails. As tftp daemon I

creating a floppy image from a linux file
...tore
This is what google and VMWare keeps telling me but it does not make
sense unless I am copying off a floppy....
What I am trying to do is turn the kickstart file into a floppy image so
I can kickstart off the floppy in vmware.
Create a disk image from the physical drive:
cat /dev/fd0 > imagefile.img
Copy image to the physical drive:
cat imagefile.img > /dev/fd0
Help figuring out that silly little piece that is keeping me from
building a VM guest from my kickstart file is much appreciated.

vol-info showing old disk size
Hi,
I just resized the disk image of a virtual machine by following the
recommended virt-resize procedure.
The enlarged disk is working fine, and the size is correctly detected and
used in the virtual machine.
But "virsh vol-info /path/to/imagefile" still shows the old size and
allocation. Is there a way to "fix" this, i.e. making virsh aware of the
new size?
Thanks.

Windows port
Hi!
I would like to ask about current state of Windows port. Is it frozen? It will be cool to know the plans :)
Where are a lot of Windows-branches at GitHub. What is the most actual one?
The Windows builder looks like turned off, am I right that it is not available currently and where were no builds after version 2.6.5-6?
I couldn't find any info about proper environment to build Windows

SYSLINUX 3.11-pre3 -- release candidate
This is a minor tweak on 3.11-pre2. If nothing new comes up, I will
release this as 3.11 probably early next week.

AGAIN: file object treated as string
I am trying to implement the uploading of a file to a remote server
I get error while trying to write the file on the server. The error I
get is the following:
undefined method `rewind'' for #<String:0x2aaaad062eb8>
It seems to be treating my file as a string instead of a File object.

PXElinux & memdisk
...eve pxe booting of a image of barts boot disk (www.nu2.nu).
I have managed to get LTSP booting via pxelinux, so I know my dhcp/tftp servers are ok.
However when I try to boot memdisk with either a stock suselinux boot image file (taken from
SuSE 9.1) or my dos disk (created by dd if=/dev/fd0 of=/imagefile)
I get output like

isolinux 3.xx bug very maybe?
Is the new Isolinux series effecting hardware in a different way as 2.xx series?
I'm getting a system crash in VMware. I guess this is a Vmware issue, but thought you might want to know.
2.xx series works OK for me.
I get to see 8 dots when loading a 360KB imagefile, following by crash message mentioned below.
Replacing MEMDISK by old version does not matter,
only replacing isolinux.bin 3.05 (debug version) by isolinux.bin 2.xx (debug version) helps successfully loading my 360KB imagefile.
I did not see this until upgrading 1 Vmware beta version to the next,...

feature request: gzip support in syslinux itself
...oot Manager (gzip'd COM32 binary instead of normal COM32 binary?).
I'm using both on a simple bootdisk, and all space savings are welcome.
a workaround could ofcourse be to write each of them to a diskette, then read in the diskette (RAREAD, DISKCOPY, Linux dd, maybe RAWRITE), compress the imagefile, then load it using Memdisk which has (g)zip decompression support.
other possibility would be to create an intermediate loader (let's call it 'ungzip') which would decompress the GZ and then let the decompressed binary ('kernel') take control. Similar to memdisk thus, but not...

tftp pxe and dos
So I have a few questions. I have already made the base part of making a
windows TFTPD running with memedisk. So that part works, but what I was
wondering, if there is a way to some how add an option to the config file.
What I have is something like this:
label winstall
kernel unattended/memdisk
append initrd=unattended/winstall.imz
That all works great, However, for each image, I have

Integrate 3com boot image files?
Hello Peter,
do you know a way to integrate existing submenu's created by the 3com boot
image editor into pxelinux? I know it is possible to build the menu's in
pxelinux and use memdisk for imagefiles, but it will mean to recreate
about 70 menu's and 350-400 image files.
Yours sincerely

missing syslinux details/docs
I'm running into some issues with regard to isolinux and memdisk, and am
not sure where to ask/look in the best way possible. These are
DOS-related issues.
So here goes:
* Can MEMDISK map a imagefile (compressed? harddisk?) to more than
(and/or beyond) 4GB of memory? Say you'd have 8/16GBGB and want 4GB
available to the user so might as well use the other 4/12GB for MEMDISK.
Or max 4GB due to 32bit memory/disk limitations in the module (or
processor) ?
* Is there a way to detect a sys...

EDD error RE: Re: SYSLINUX 2.12-pre7 released
(Sorry, Outlook webmail prohibits me from proper replying/quoting)

Which seems logical if you boot a kernel (like Linux, or Memdisk with an imagefile), but not when doing a local boot (diskette/harddisk)
In other words: boot from cdrom, and if you then load a disk-image, eltorito.sys should load. If not loading a kernel or disk-image (but booting C: for example, or A:), then, IMHO, eltorito.sys should not be able to load (as the user opted to c...
