X4500 ILOM thinks disk 20 is faulted, ZFS thinks not.
Hey Guys, Have any of y''all seen a condition where the ILOM considers a disk faulted (status is 3 instead of 1), but ZFS keeps writing to the disk and doesn''t report any errors? I''m going to do a scrub tomorrow and see what comes back. I''m curious what caused the ILOM to fault the disk. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Best Reg...

ALOM woes
Hi. After running with the crossbow bits for a while, I discovered that the network management port on my T1000 wasn''t working properly (no link light). When logging in on the serial management port and running "resetsc", I got this: --->8--- ALOM POST 1.0 Dual Port Memory Test, PASSED. TTY External - Internal Loopback Test TTY External - Internal Loopback Test, PASSED.

debugging RAM issues
...e how to debug it. And unfortunately it is not under support anymore. I started the job about 4 months ago and when I came aboard the guy who handed stuff over to me told me this issue was on his list of things he was unable to get to yet. He told me he'd seen errors in the past in the Sun ILOM message log, but unfortuantely he did not record exactly what the messages were. Fast forward a bit and I've had problems with this machine. Sometimes when I reboot it, it just won't come up. The console and everything just go completely dead no matter what I do. I unplug it for a whil...

Interesting Pool Import Failure
...imply just be able to install 2008.05 over top of Sol10U5 and import / upgrade the pool and move on. Indeed I probably can do that, but it didn''t quite go as planned... So under U5, the boot devices (mirrored w/ SVM) were c0t1d0 and c5t0d0, I exported the zpool and rebooted. Through the ILOM''s Java console I mounted the 2008.05 iso and booted from it. When the OS came online, I quickly started the installer and selected the device labeled c0t1d0 to as the installation target.... this was rather stupid on my part.... After rebooting when the install completed I quickly found...

Sun Fire X4200 M2 / CentOS 5 APIC issues
I had been running CentOS 5 happily on my Sun Fire X4200 M2 systems, then I upgraded the BIOS and iLOM firmware. Now I'm running into what seems to be a fairly common problem with newer motherboards. I cannot boot unless I use the 'noapic' kernel option. If I try to boot the kernel normally, I get the error: "MP-BIOS bug: 8254 timer not connected to IO-APIC" I can boot...

Question about clustering
..._fs will not be stopped and then all other resources depending from drbd1_fs? Another question is about fencing. I've ridden that a cluster must have fencing to be considered as such. On CentOS 6.5 there is stonith that concerns node level fencing. For this type of fencing I must have ilo, ilom, drac, and other. It's possible to have fencing without Light-out devices, blade power control device and other? There are other device that can be used for fencing? Supposing a 2 node cluster with two server assembled (no hp, dell, sun, ibm..) how I can implement fencing with stonith? I ca...

Scripting
Hiya, Now I have figured out how to read disks using dd to make LEDs blink, I want to write a little script that iterates through all drives, dd''s them with a few thousand counts, stop, then dd''s them again with another few thousand counts, so I end up with maybe 5 blinks. I don''t want somebody to write something for me, I''d like to be pointed in the right

Dedicated server running ESXi with no RAID card, ZFS for storage?
Morning all... I have a Dedicated server in a data center in Germany, and it has 2 3TB drives, but only software RAID. I have got them to install VMWare ESXi and so far everything is going ok... I have the 2 drives as standard data stores... But i am paranoid... So, i installed Nexenta as a VM, gave it a small disk to boot off and 2 1Tb disks on separate physical drives... I have created a

FreeBSD DDoS protection
Hi, I have a router running BGP and OSPF (bird) on FreeBSD. Are there any best practises one can take in order to protect the network from DDoS attacks. I know this isn't easy. But I would like to secure my network as much as possible. Even if I'am not able to prevent or block a ddos I would like to get some info (snmp trap parhaps) regarding the attack. Then I can contact my ISP or
