IIS Change Notifications
Good afternoon all, I'm a web developer (c#) who also manages a small hosting environment. Roughly, our configuration is: Two IIS7 (Windows Server 2008 Web) servers which share configuration data and site files from a SMB share located on a ubuntu server. The ubuntu server is currently running 3.0.28a which is quite old, but read on. We've been having a problem with the change notifications from the ubuntu filesystem rea...

Best practice Ruby on Rails on Windows configuration
Hi, I have read many articles on the net today about configuring Ruby on Rails on a Windows server. But there doesn''t seem to a one solution for all on how to configure a new Ruby on Rails server. So I can use some advise with this. I am using a Windows 2003 server and don''t get many request a day. But most of the request are quite heavy. The main focus is on optimizing the

mongrel/mongrel_rails windows question
Hello! I''m just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for running mongrel/mongrel_service under Windows (Client requires Windows Server 2008, SQL Server 2008, IIS7, no budget for a *nix box of any kind). I have a working setup, but wondering if anyone has any further insight. Current working setup: Ruby 1.87 (via rubyinstaller.org) Rail 2.3.11 mongrel 1.1.15 (mingw32) mongrel_service 0.4.0 I''ll be looking at using the ARR features of IIS7 to do s...

Different return codes on exec during puppet agent run vs command line Windows

FastCGI on IIS
Has anyone tried using Rails (or PHP or whatever) on IIS lately? There is a FastCGI extention for IIS 5.1 and 6.0 [1], backported from IIS7 if I understand correctly. I''m curious if anyone thinks this would work in production and give Rails a decent inroad for IIS-based shops. It seems to perform [2] but I would like some verification from the community at large before I mention the "R" word at work again. :) [1] ht...

A FastCGI-compliant executable for RubyOnRails
...ver, neither Ruby.exe nor Rubyw.exe appear to work with the FastCGI protocol (http://www.fastcgi.com/devkit/doc/fcgi-spec.html). Perhaps we are missing specific command line switches, or environment variables necessary to make this work. Any information much appreciated. One-Click Ruby Installer 186-26 Final Release
This updates Ruby to 1.8.6 patch level 111 (lots of bug fixes since 1.8.6 was released). It also updates most of the included extensions to their latest versions (see the change log), and adds FastCGI and ruby-fcgi support. These two new extensions allow you run your Rails application under IIS7! I''d like to thank Luis Lavena for taking charge of the One-Click Ruby Installer project and making this release happen. Changes: 2007-12-14 Release 26 * Upgraded Ruby to 1.8.6 patch level 111 * Upgraded RubyGems to 0.9.4 * Upgraded Rake to 0.7.3 * Upgraded FXRuby to 1.6.12 * Upgraded h...

samba sessions dying - NT_STATUS_INVALID_PARAMETER
...also. A more detailed description of the solution would be?. 2 x rhel4 (update 7) ES servers in a veritas cluster (VCS 5mp3) running samba 3.0.28. 6 x Windows* web servers (Vmware guests) 2 x Windows* domain controllers, all servers are a member of the same domain. .net application running in IIS7 web content exists on the rhel4 cluster, available to the web servers via samba. We don?t actually mount the share as a drive, IIS accesses the UNC path as required. the issue doesn?t appear to be load related, it?s as likely to happen at 2am with ten?s of sessions as it is at 2pm with hundreds o...

Rails & IIS
There are several sites I''ve found on the web detailing how to setup IIS with Rails. Unfortunately they all seem to be woefully out of date. I believe they may all even be pre Rails 1.0. Can single sign on via Active Directory Services be accomplished through mod_NTLM for Apache, so users won''t have ot log into the intranet site after already having logged into their machine?

Winelibs question.....
Forgive my newbness. I'm pretty fresh to Linux, but trying to port some reasonably sizable windows apps that I have written. Certainly my gui apps appear to work directly with wine. I also have stuff that makes more sense to use with winelibs. I've had no significant difficulties setting up and compiling bits an pieces, basically just to get my orientation sorted. One of my apps is an
