Samba 3.0.7-2 and IIS6
Hi, we are using Samba as a network attached storage server for our web- servers, and have an oddity with Windows 2003/IIS6 where some of the sites seem to lose their connection for short periods of time (up to about 1/2 an hour at most). During this time the web server reports either a 500 or 401 error. There doesn't appear to be anything in the Samba logs that indicated any problems - has anyone else experienced a...

Problem connecting IIS6 and Samba 3.0.20b
have sent this mail before, but without a subject. Never found any response to it, hope somebody can and will help me this time. LS, I've been trying to set up Samba 3.0.20b on a Debian LDAPv3 server. It all works ok, except for IIS 6. I am using a W2K3Std Server to connect to a Samba domain. This is necessary because of the way IIS authorises it's users. Every website has it's own

IIS and response timeout
I apologize if this has been covered before, I checked the archives and didn''t see anything over the last few months. I am running IIS6 with IsapiRewriter and a single mongrel service for each Rails application. One of my apps does a long query to the database to produce a CSV file. After the request has gone beyond 30 seconds, the user get a 500 Internal Server Error. I''ve looked around for ways to adjust the response ti...

Best practice Ruby on Rails on Windows configuration
Hi, I have read many articles on the net today about configuring Ruby on Rails on a Windows server. But there doesn''t seem to a one solution for all on how to configure a new Ruby on Rails server. So I can use some advise with this. I am using a Windows 2003 server and don''t get many request a day. But most of the request are quite heavy. The main focus is on optimizing the

File change notification.
Regarding the following thread. http://lists.samba.org/archive/samba-technical/2005-March/040075.html Does anyone know where to obtain the patch, it appears to be truncated in the mail archive. I am having the same problem, Windows 2003 + IIS6 is not updating cached ASP and ASP.NET pages. I see that Samba replies to all file change notification requests with 0x0000010C (STATUS_NOTIFY_ENUM_DIR), however IIS does not seem to respect this response. Thanks.

samba sessions dying - NT_STATUS_INVALID_PARAMETER
...ek some assistance on a problem I?ve been investigating for a number of weeks now. A brief summary would be that we have a number of Windows servers accessing UNC paths. In turn, these servers intermittently lose their ability to access the UNC paths. When this happens, restarting the application (IIS6 / 7) on the affected windows webserver resolves the issue.killing the smbd daemon serving the request resolves the issue also. A more detailed description of the solution would be?. 2 x rhel4 (update 7) ES servers in a veritas cluster (VCS 5mp3) running samba 3.0.28. 6 x Windows* web servers (Vm...

IIS Change Notifications
...d then a freshly installed 10.10 ubuntu with samba 3.5.4 (from launchpad/aptitude) followed by a built from source 3.5.6. I tested with 3.5.6 to confirm it wasn't the 4 byte boundry bug recently fixed. The ubuntu server is running on a VM locally. IIS7 works much smoother with UNC paths than IIS6, except you have to use caspol to trust the UNC path if you want to execute asp.net binaries. I'm not very familiar with C code, especially on linux environments so i'm not sure how to test/provide the information you need to diagnose this bug. I am happy to file a bug report, but without...

Success - Rails, FastCGI, and IIS / Windows Server
About 17:00 localtime I managed to get fastcgi, Rails and IIS all happy together. Upon success I ripped off my clothes and ran through the village yelling "The future is now!". A PDP-11 geezer stuck his head out a window and said "The future isn''t what it used to be and keep yer shirt on". Modifications were required to dispatch.fcgi and request.rb. The following

I Would Really Like to Try RoR but...
it''s been a nightmare trying to set it up. I keep getting a an Application Error message when I try to navigate to a url which should be taken care of by my newly created controllers. For instance, I wanted to test RoR out so I created a MyTest controller which should allow me to navigate something like: http://localhost/rubytest/MyTest but it does not. I have no problem getting

Rails on IIS
I just spent the last two days trying to get Rails on IIS to work with Windows 2003/IIS 6.0. I think I''ve finally got it working, but it took more googling than I care to describe. Now I''ve got a few questions: 1) Is there some ''official'' Rails on IIS guide on this site on another official ruby site that''s known to work well? 2) If not, can someone
