Why are the binaries so huge?
Hi list I just compiled 3.0rc1 on Solaris 9 (UltraSparc IIe) with gcc 3.3. Seems to work fine but I am surprised by the enormous size of the binaries: (ub-blade1):/usr/local/samba/sbin # ll total 232272 -rwxr-xr-x 1 root other 44719632 Aug 28 15:07 nmbd -rwxr-xr-x 1 root other 89726544 Aug 28 15:07 smbd -rwxr-xr-x 1 root other...

[LLVMdev] Why asserts don't provide much information?
Thanks for forwarding Jeffrey's tip Paul. Unfortunately, coming mostly from the application programming side, I haven't seriously used a command line debugger since the Apple IIe days in the early 80s (geez, i guess that makes me kinda old as far as programmers go). So I'm not familiar with gdb even at an intermediate level. Not that gdb isn't ubiquitous for tools development or any sort of development on Linux/Unix. For application development, however, most peop...

A tail of joy...
So, I _finally_ got the time to upgrade from 0.99.14 ... which I told myself I'd upgrade from once 1.0 was released... (yep, I've been _that_ busy :) So I read the Wiki page on 0.99->1.0 transition, and went through the config file - for all of about 5 or 10 minutes. I logged in at 11pm when nobody else should be using it, restarted dovecot with the new version, and logged in.

Wine&HalfLife
Hello, Well I got a real windows partition with half-life properly installed (working very fine in windows mode), and another partition with last Debian and Wine. When I try to 'wine hl.exe' it's loading slowly, I see the sierra video logo and hl video logo, and then the menu loads line by line, and when all lines have been loaded it stay loading with a black screen. libvirt and guest processes
Hi I wanted to find out if there is way to list all the running processes in a guest VM from the hypervisor. Like the output of 'ps -ef' from inside the guest VM, but without logging in or ssh into it. Thanks dtsweval

Re: libvirt and guest processes
As I know, you can use Libvmi API to access the memory of VM and then walk through the double-linked list of process to reconstruct the process list. it is easy, and libvmi has provide the example 在2015-04-20 22:52:02,hanyandong<hanyandong@iie.ac.cn>写道: > On 20.04.2015 06:22, dt sweval wrote: > > Hi > > I wanted to find out if there is way to list all the running processes in a > > guest VM from the hypervisor. ...28: setcontext(0xFFFFFFFF7FFFE4F0) 8128: close(8) = 0 Recompiled as a 32-bit binary, and it works fine. Not sure if this is related to bug 643 (http://bugzilla.mindrot.org/show_bug.cgi?id=643), but seems to act similarly. Might be buying a Mac
I might be buying a Mac tomorrow. I checked out the new 13.3in MacBook at the new Apple Store on 5th ave in NYC. I''m torn between the smaller MacBook and the MacBook Pro. We have a pro at work and I''m not that thrilled with the way it feels. I like the keyboard much better on the 13inch. However, I think doing development on that small of a screen could get frustrating. Any

LINKS: http://www.neurosaudio.com Frontier Labs Frontier Labs has contacted Xiph.org directly, and Xiph.org is currently working with them to investigate the possibilities of Vorbis playback on the Nex II and Nex IIe portable music players. There are no guarantees that this hardware will be sufficient to play Vorbis files, but if it can be done, then we will do it. More information as it comes!
