Why are bridges required?
Hi, all the descriptions of networking setups with VMs I`m seeing involve bridges. The only use I see for bridges is when I actually want to be able to send network traffic to multiple arbitrary interfaces connected to the bridge. I do neither need, nor want bridges when I want to keep the VMs separated, like when separating a VM in a DMZ from a VM in the LAN. The bridge acts like a hub.

Error crosscompiling
Hi, I was trying to crosscompile dovecot, but I got some error: --with-notify=inotify don't work, as it try to run a test program to verify if inotify is supported in the building platform. Solved with --with-notify=dnotify. Ihmo, is more a hack than a solution. | checking whether posix_fallocate() works... configure: error: cannot run test program while cross compiling I can't find an a suitable option for this error. Again the problem is that configure can't run an executable for a different platform. It's...

Using multiple 'peer' identities on one phone with 1.4
Hi! When using multiple identities on one physical phone (Snom 320), I get check_auth: username mismatch, have <7705>, digest has <7736> messages when placing a call from a different account than the first one. From reading the asterisk source, I can see that the problem is that peer authentication is not matched against username, but against ip/port. I need to have multiple

Opinions about SSH and DNS
Hi People, As part of securing SSH we currently have UseDNS set to yes. But we are finding that a number of ISP's are deliberately refusing to configure matching forward and reverse DNS records. So I am wondering how many of you are still using this option?

IHMO it is braindead to try to substitute some good UNIX-programs by an windows-emulation and a windows-program. H. -- Q: How many mutt users does it take to change a lightbulb? A: One. But you have to set the option auto-change-illumination in your .muttrc file. Dresdener LaTeX-Stammtisch: http...

Samba PDC and Win2k PDC
hi, I would like to change the old windows 2000 domain structure into one samba 3 domain. the migration is to take place gradually for the departments. I had imagined to packing the samba pdc with another domain name into the same subnetz as windows pdc. Windows 2k DN = work.wurst.local Samba 3 DN = work.wurst.de IP Subnet = 192.168.2.0/24 (Samba and Windows) is it possible ? thank stefan --

deliver doesn't update cache index with mbox
Hello Timo, I'm having a problem with mbox that opening folder is slow when new mails are delivered to a folder. I'm delivering through the deliver program. Deliver updates index files but IHMO not completely correct. Therefore I compared index files before and after: 1.) Just delivered 2.) After accessing through imap via Thunderbird diff looks like (stripped down to the relevant things): INDEX: -first recent uid ......... = 25847 +first recent uid ......... = 25848 -log file tail offs...

rpm build machines
How similar should my rpm build machine be to my target deploy machines? Like, do you have to build on a multi-core machine if you plan to run on a multi-core machine? Or as long as the arch is the same, nothing else matters? johnn

[PATCH net-next 1/2] virtio-net: don't reserve space for vnet header for XDP
...rmation (see pahole below sign). It is currently not used in the XDP case, but we will be working towards using it. There are a lot of unanswered questions on how this will be implemented. Thus, I cannot layout how we are going to leverage this info yet, but your patch are killing this info, which IHMO is going in the wrong direction. > Cc: Jesper Dangaard Brouer <brouer at redhat.com> > Signed-off-by: Jason Wang <jasowang at redhat.com> > --- > drivers/net/virtio_net.c | 6 +++--- > 1 file changed, 3 insertions(+), 3 deletions(-) > > diff --git a/drivers/net/...

IHMO, the 2nd one is correct: it is exactly one property of the *robustness* of the wilcoxon test and very desirable that any (positive) outlier is treated the same as just "the largest value" and the test statistic (and hence the p-value) should not change. So I think the first case is wrong...

[PATCH net-next 1/2] virtio-net: don't reserve space for vnet header for XDP
We tried to reserve space for vnet header before xdp.data_hard_start. But this is useless since the packet could be modified by XDP which may invalidate the information stored in the header and there's no way for XDP to know the existence of the vnet header currently. So let's just not reserve space for vnet header in this case. Cc: Jesper Dangaard Brouer <brouer at redhat.com>
