OS X problem with DSTEIN in IGLS code
1. R-devel on OS X aborts when the code below is run after spitting
out the
message
Loading required package: MASS
Parameter 5 to routine DSTEIN was incorrect
Mac OS BLAS parameter error in DSTEIN, parameter #0, (unavailable), is 0
2. I compiled R-patched using the included BLAS and Lapack, although
Brian says this is impossible on OS X, because they are in FORTRAN (??).

sum() returns 0 not NA
Dear all,
just a stupid R question, since the results puzzle me a bit:
> sum(c(NA,NA), na.rm=TRUE)
[1] 0
> NA + NA
[1] NA
> NA + 1
[1] NA
>
Why does sum(c(NA,NA), na.rm=TRUE) return 0 and not NA?
Thanks in advance,

SOLARIS_2.6: request_oplock_break
I saw a little discussion about this a few weeks ago but nothing concrete.
We're running samba-1.9.18p8 under Solaris 2.6x86. I am periodically
getting the following in the logfiles, usually _many_ at a time:
1998/11/03 14:42:00 request_oplock_break: no response received to oplock
break request to pid 5411 on port 40884 for dev = 1980040, inode = 33c4d
When I look up the PID (in this case

Does "sink" stand for anything?
Hello Everyone,
Learning about R and its wonderful array of functions. If it's not obvious, I usually try to find out what a function stands for. I think this helps me remember better.
One function that has me stumped is "sink." Can anyone tell me if this stands for something?
Thanks,
Paul
