TCP Stack Issues Under FreeBSD 7.1

IP_MAX_MEMBERSHIPS
Hello, Can anyone tell me why the maximum number of members in a multicast group is set at 20? Are there issues with increasing this number? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Steve Clark -- "They that give up essential liberty to obtain temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety." (Ben Franklin) "The course of history shows that as a

[patch] Raw sockets in jails
Although RAW sockets can be used when specifying the source address of packets (defeating one of the aspects of the jail) some people may find it usefull to use utilities like ping(8) or traceroute(8) from inside jails. Enclosed is a patch I have written which gives you the option of allowing prison-root to create raw sockets inside the prison, so

serious networking (em) performance (ggate and NFS) problem
Dear best guys, I really love 5.3 in many ways but here're some unbelievable transfer rates, after I went out and bought a pair of Intel GigaBit Ethernet Cards to solve my performance problem (*laugh*): (In short, see *** below) Tests were done with two Intel GigaBit Ethernet cards (82547EI, 32bit PCI Desktop adapter MT) connected directly without a switch/hub and "device

re driver trobles (RELENG_5)
Dear colleagues, experimenting with new amd64-based router we found strange re(4) behaviour when working in autoselect media mode: whenever promisc mode turned on, renegotiating occurs, leading to 3 to 45 (depending on STP settings on the switch) network unavailability. Moreover, some other re(4) setting changes seem to disturb link state unneededly (such as ifconfig re0 -vlanhwtag) The most

4.9-RC and bge
Recent SUP. Installed on Dell PowerEdge 4600. Getting tons of: Sep 30 12:23:16 zige /kernel: bge0: gigabit link up Sep 30 12:23:46 zige last message repeated 98 times Also getting some TCP retransmits. This causes noticable delays in pretty much everything I do now. Not a problem prior to the SUP. I was on 4.8-STABLE before. When pulling/replacing cables, it went into a mode where it would

Hard(?) lock when reassociating ath with wpa_supplicant on RELENG_7
Hi Sam, do you know if there is anything done about cbb(4)? I have many wireless adapters with ath(4), but only the one based on PCMCIA is making problems on FreeBSD. I cannot boot my notebook with the device inserted into the port, or it will render the system unusable (100% load on cbb(4)). And all I can see is the following: Jul 12 14:58:39 link kernel: ath0: ath_chan_set: unable to reset

FreeBSD Quarterly Status Report, January-March 2013
...mdoc.su is a deterministic URL shortener for BSD manual pages, written entirely in nginx.conf. Since the original announcement, OS version support has been added (e.g. /f91/ and /FreeBSD-9.1/ etc.), as well as dynamic multi-flavour web-pages with multiple links (e.g. http://mdoc.su/f,d/ifnet.9 and http://mdoc.su/-/mdoc), which even let you specify the versions too (e.g. http://mdoc.su/f91,n60,o52,d/mdoc). The source code for the whole site is available under a BSD licence. Open tasks: 1. Fork it on GitHub (see links)! _______________________________________________...
