H. Peter,
Do you still work at Intel? Any pull with Intel's NIC F/W team?
Ask them to "Respect the RFC!"
(Like Cartman -- "Respect My Authority!")
That would be the best solution. :-)
But I know I work for a hardware vendor and I have *zero* pull
with any internal firmware team.

Zap callwaiting hookflash idiosyncracy/flaw?
Don't know what else to call this. Googling and some time on the IRC
channel haven't gotten me anywhere.
Here's the sitch, which is a bit complicated but is something my
customers are in fact encountering on an everyday basis:
1. Bob is on a Zap channel talking through the PSTN to Carol. Both have
the misfortune, like so many of us, of having LECs who do not offer

Best way to deal with an idiosyncracy of Intel Boot Agent (IBA)...
All,
I have a question on how to deal with a quirk of the Intel Boot Agent.
Both for PXE boots and for EFI boots.
I've noticed this IBA quirk for years. According to the "DHCP options"
RFC, variable length DHCP options are not necessarily null-terminated.
Here's the details:

Can't you use $mysym +/- 1 in the landing pad reference to work this
idiosyncracy?

Buig in bin/R script (PR#9375)
Full_Name: Gordon Lack
Version: 2.4.0
OS: OSF1 v5.1
Submission from: (NULL) (198.28.92.5)
Changes to the bin/R front-end interlude script at 2.4.0 (cf: 2.2.0) have broken
R on (Dec/Compaq/HP) OSF1.
There are 3 occurrences of "${@}", but this is the incorrect syntax for adding
$@, as on older Bourne shells this will add an empty (but present) parameter.
The result is that the build

[LLVMdev] symbols for exception handling
mips16 has some unusual requirements for label symbols in .s.
I think that arm thumb has the same issue but have not located yet how
this is handled.
When you have a label of an instruction in mips16, when you reference
the label, the linker
adds a 1 to the address. When you call an odd numbered address, the
procesor switches to mips16 mode and when you call an even numbered
address it

Samba AD PDC , LDAP and Single-Sign-On
...hat you are about to endure, I can only offer my apologies.
Apologies accepted! :) Seriously though, the Samba team has done a great job
with the AD stuff. I was pretty much able to drop Samba4 in as a replacement
for our SBS 2008 with virtually no issues. What issues I had were mostly
Microsoft idiosyncracies (refer to my GPO rant to Rowland). I used the
Slackware as-shipped Samba4, provisioned (with BIND9_FLATFILE), added users
with RSAT ADUC and Win7 domain users were none the wiser, everything just
worked: redirected folders, RDC, SLQ Server "Windows Authentication", etc. Good
job!

R-beta: legend
Does the "legend" command work in the windows version of R? Here is
the command that I'm using:
legend(1,1,legend=c("G1","G2","G3","G4","G5","G6"),pch=array(1:6,dim=c
(1,6)))
When I use this on my existing graph in a window I get a solid black
box at the lower left. If I use this with the postscript driver my

you'd better fix this before releasing 3.0.1
Solaris 2.6 gcc 2.95.3
Compiling tdb/tdbbackup.
Linking bin/tdbbackup
Undefined first referenced
Symbol in file
smb_snprintf tdb/tdbackup.o
I thought we'd fixed this already.

Chipping in after rather a long time away....I would advise that
updating the nmake files will be a long and painful process if it works
at all. The nmake method was always a hack, required lots of
hoop-jumping to work around both Windows nmake and Visual C++ compiler
idiosyncracies.
If it's possible to compile Xapian for Windows using another method, do
that.

Thank you, looks like the regex idiosyncracy might have been the issue.

Thanks!
FWIW if you do get to test new code,
https://github.com/networkupstools/nut/pull/1811 adds warnings for
situations like yours. Would be great to check if it works actually, with
many "same-serial" devices :)

Part of what made my life harder is nut-scanner isn't in the package.
Once I get a chance, I'll update to 2.8, but that'll be a little while off.
(Any clue how to get 2.8 included in the package provider for my Raspberry
Pi is presumably beyond the scope of this list, but if someone knows and
wants to let me know, I wouldn't complain...)

Just a note: recent PRs are naturally not in 2.8.0 release (April 2022),
but would be in eventual 2.8.1

IEEE_754 logic
Can anybody of the architects of R enlighten me about the reasoning behind the selection of the IEEE 754
mode for the building of R, please?
Special points of interest are:
1. The selection seems to be based on the availability of isnan() and finite(). Is this a common way
to test for IEEE 754?
2. The C9x draft introduces isfinite() instead of finite() (and as I see, some systems, e.g. the
