date type in database becomes nil in rails
...run it from the browser or rails console, all
data in the column becomes nil. The ROR settings are the same in both
OS except that fact that it''s running sqlite3 3.6.22 in Ubuntu and
3.6.17 in Windows. I wonder if it has something to do with the setting
in Ubuntu. Thank you in advance.

has_many models in a form
Hi, guys.
There are four models in the program, A has_many B through C, B has_many
A through C, A has_many D, D belongs_to A. I have a form to create A.
Inspired by Ryan Bates'' railscasts I was able to create A and D in the
same form, and link A to B(created beforehand) through C in the same
form as well. Is it possible to create A and B in the same form?
Thanks in advance.

validation problems
Hi, there.
I have two validations in the model:
validates_numericality_of :value, :only_integer=>true,
:allow_blank=>true
validates_size_of :value, :is=>9, :message=>"must be 5-digit number",
:if=>Proc.new{|u| u.value.is_a?(Numeric)}
They work as expected except when the :value is character/string like
"a" "abc", the second validation will also output

Could anyone tell me how to configure tinc.conf and the other config files?
Thanks in advance,

use libcrypt before libcrypto
these days many unix-based systems contain crypt() with more than
DES support (for instance, MD5 in freebsd/openbsd/netbsd, bcrypt in
openbsd/netbsd). we need to use crypt() in libcrypt, not in licrypto,
as much as possible.

darwin getaddrinfo
in configure.ac, we AC_DEFINE(BROKEN_GETADDRINFO) for *-darwin-*
platforms. recent Darwin fixed getaddrinfo to work as specified in
RFC2553, so the case clause is not needed for recent Darwin.
still not sure when it was corrected. anyone has a clue?

Apache22+mod_proxy+mongrel+ssl
I am trying to move a Rails application, that uses SSL, from an
Apache/FastCGI stack, that works fine, to Apache22 and mongrel
working with a single mongrel instance (i.e., not mongrel cluster, yet.)
I have a single mongrel instance demonized and working fine on http,
on port 3000. Apache/OpenSSL/certs working fine.
Here is my test http.conf (deliberately kept as simple as possible):

"rsync --daemon" and IPv4/v6 dual stack
on systems that has separate IPv4/v6 socket layer (i.e. IPv4 packet
does not get routed to AF_INET6 socket) rsync --daemon would accept
IPv6 sessions only. open_socket_in() tries to deal with the
situation, but it was not enough. here's the patch.
(it is required on all *BSDs to accept both IPv4 and IPv6 connections
with --daemon mode)
