ices0 systemd package?
Not sure what the ices0 development plans are regarding Fedora systemd support. A basic start may be as listed below. Just note that after install, depending on the instance of ices0 being started, use 'systemctl start ices0 at 0.service'. See the installed unit service file ices0 at .service for additional inform...

Ices0 & Icecast2
Hi, I would like to stream MP3 to Icecast2 and read in the archives that this should work fine with ices0. I compiled and installed both icecast2 and ices0 fine, but ices0 seems to fail to authenticate. How to tell Ices0 reloading the playlist?
Hi all! How can I tell ices0 to refersh/reload the playlist? I thought it would be done automaticaly, but now if I changed the playlist, Ices didn't see this. Played funny the old one again and again. Is it possible to get ices a kick to reload the playlist? Greetings Anatol

So will ices0 - that's what I use, and I nudge it along all the time. There is one significant problem with ices0 which is that if you nudge it while it's playing *the very last* entry in a playlist, it seems to fail - i.e. it stops pumping and needs to be restarted. Mohammed, does this match your situa...

Streaming
Hi, I am using a ccRTP to provide streaming over RTP. I would like to know if Ices0 could be used to send MP3 Streaming for a Player. I need fragments MP3 file to streaming, so I think that IcesO does it. I am not sure but I understood that Ices0 does the stream to Icecast server send. Regards, Flavio

Cannot build ices0/libshout2 on Mac OSX 10.4.2
Hi - I'm rebuilding my OSX system and I can't get ices0 to build - or to be more exact, can't get libshout2 to build. I started by using DarwinPorts, and icecast2 & libogg & libvorbis seemed to build OK. The install of ices0 then gave up at the libshout2 config stage with output like this: [...] checking for libvorbis... ok checking for st...

...ast; if he > is no longer interested, I'll make up some packages myself. I've spoken with the other developer, Emmanuel le Chevoir, and he is still interested, but has even less free time than myself. We've also briefly discussed some potential legal issues with the distribution of ices0 binaries in Debian; we cannot distribute LAME or liblame, of course, which I believe ices0 depends on, for MP3 encoding. Would it be possible, or would it make sense, to distribute ices0 without LAME? Emmanuel told me that the icecast-client currently in Debian (for the old icecast 1) manages to...

error after sending SIGHUP to Ices0
Hi all, after sending SIGHUP to Ices0, Ices0 reloads the playlist correctly. Indeed Ices0 plays the new playlist, but starts not at position one as expected. Ices0 starts at the last position played on the old playlist + 1. What have I missed? Many thanks in advance. Greets Boerni

ices0, lame, and m4a
...'d like to stream my music library. I'm running FreeBSD 5.4, and have decided to use icecast. I still need an audio streamer, and I'd prefer to stream directly from the command line. Since the streamer needs to have mp3 support for my currently ripped music, I'm planning on using ices0 with lame support to allow for the AAC files. Here's the problem: I installed faad, lame, and ices0 without any problems... or so I thought. I ripped a CD with iTunes and uploaded the m4a file to my server. I set up the playlist, run ices, and I get a segmentation fault. Is this an issue wi...

Perl module and ices0
Hi, Can anyone give me some advice about how to go about creating a perl-driven playlist for ices0? I'd be grateful. I don't know what creating a Perl "module" entails, to be honest. I've written a .pl script which does the necessary functions and returns the path to the next MP3 file; is it enough just to reference this script by name in the <Module></Module>...

ices0 and ices2 on /dev/dsp?

Can I run both ices0 and ices2 simultaneously, point them at the same source (/dev/dsp) and then use icecast to broadcast both ogg vorbis and MP3 streams? -- Jeff Simmons jsimmons@goblin.punk.net Simmons Consulting - Network Engineering, Administration, Security "You guy...
