different play lists on different ports?
I'm running icecast 3.1.10 (from the ports collection) on a freebsd 4.3 machine with a hacked version of iceplay doing the encoding. With older version of icecast you could start multiple instances and tell iceplay to broadcast to each one of those instances with a different playlist. This version of icecast seems to only run one instance, even if I try to start more than one. So, I've tried using mult...

iceplay available anymore ?
All, I need a good radio station solution for icecast. It seems iceplay is a good solution but I got it out of CVS and seems to be quite old. Anybody know of a good radio station solution to manage streams and requests and all that (already tried iceDJ , it does not support ices, and is a pain in the neck to work with). Thanks a bunch. iceplay available anymore ?
Nah , I know about that. I just need a piece of web frontend software to manage an icecast radio station. Thanks Adam <p>-----Original Message----- From: Roland Häder [mailto:quixy_man@gmx.net] Sent: Thursday, August 29, 2002 2:31 PM To: icecast@xiph.org Subject: Re: [icecast] iceplay available anymore ? Hi, I just know the SHOUTcast plugin for WinAMP, with microphone support. But that isn't what you searching for, right? different play lists on different ports?
...all on different ports, with little problems. For each single instance, you can ask it to listen on multiple ports, which all act the same. But two instances ports are separate. And the icecast instances won't even know about each other. > jack> You likely are using the wrong option to iceplay (god knows why you are > jack> using that really outdated and inadequate tool). > > Because the version I'm using is neither outdated nor inadequate. ...ut of 3, it'll segfault and crash. Even in verbose mode, ices doesn't report anything other than "resyncing". Vitals: icecast 1.3.11, ices 0.2.2. Any ideas? The MP3s play back just fine in xmms. different play lists on different ports?
...t; without problems. No, what I meant by instances was multiple non-forked instances of the executable in the process table, ie icecast run multiple times with different port options. I see from your answer below that this is no longer possible. jack> You likely are using the wrong option to iceplay (god knows why you are jack> using that really outdated and inadequate tool). Because the version I'm using is neither outdated nor inadequate. It's been improved by other people and it works great. The version I'm using has mysql as a back end for keeping album and playlist infor...

choosing icecast and creating my own streamer
...r may i use RTP? (didn't see that in the doc) - i guess i would need to create my own liveice kind of application, that would support live mpeg4 animation feed. is looking at the source code of icelive, my best way to start? maybe some developper doc somwhere? - same thing I will need my own iceplay to be able to render my opengl, and synch with the audio. iceplay my best bet? I installed liveice, icecast on linux and run sonique on win32. and i am happy :) I am looking forward to use icecast thanks for your help Dominique Get 250 color business cards for FREE! http://businesscards.lycos....

Public Server?
...FAQ: "What do I need to setup and run an icecast server? First of all you need a box to run the server. Download and compile icecast on this box, and start it up (the default config should be fine). Next, you will need to send your server an audio stream from an encoder. You can run shout or iceplay on the same box or another box to stream pre-encoded content to the icecast server. If you want to broadcast a stream at a different bitrate than the bitrate the files has been encoded at, you can use liveice. Liveice also lets you be a real DJ, with support for mixing, crossfades, mic input, etc....

running a radio station
Hello, I successfully have installed icecast server and can stream content using lame and libshout. However I can not find iceplay anywhere and it seems to be unavailable on the icecast site. I for whatever reason can not get icedj to work (only works with shout and not ices anyway). So I was wondering what other solutions there were to run an icecast radio station so anyone can listen to streams and get information on what...

Stuttering stream
I'm using shout 0.8.0, icecast 1.3.10 on Redhat 7.2. My stream skips all over the place. I can't even get through one song without having to restart the stream or having icecast boot me. Most of my MP3s are 128kbps, and that's the default bitrate in shout. I've turned on autocorrect and force bitrate, but it still skips. Autocorrect seems to make the time between skipping a bit
