Usage of on-connect and on-disconnect
Hi guys , I ' m reading the icecast documentation , in particular here:
http://www.icecast.org/docs/icecast-2.3.1/icecast2_config_file.html#mount
For the on-connect and on-disconnect functions , I read:
on-connect
State a program that is run when the source is started. It is passed a
parameter which is the name of the mountpoint that is starting. The
processing of the stream does not wait for the script to end. This

While those stations do exist they did not chose to be listed on
dir.xiph.org.
It is up to the server administrator and the stream themselves to enable
directory listing. Not everyone does that.

Problem One: Running Icecast on Port 80..
I've got a redhat linux 9.0 box and I've made sure Apache is out of the
way, so that I can do what I really want to do, which is to run Icecast
on port 80 of the server, so listeners can grab the stream even through
the toughest firewall. I have been wrestling with this for a number
of hours, consulted a few experts, and am coming up zilch.
Theoretically, I should be able to just

<savefile> directive for Icecast2?
Hi all,
Hope you can advise.
I am aware you can use the <savefile> feature of IceS2 to save a copy of
live streams. I have several sources for my Icecast server that are remote
and which I do not have access to the hard drive. Is there any way to save a
copy of the stream at the Icecast Server rather than the IceS2 source?
If it can't be done by the server itself, I know there are

...spontaneous dropping of

BTW, I tried icecast-2.2-kh14.tar.gz from mediacast1.com/~karl but it
won't untar completely; it gives this:

icecast-2.2-kh14/doc/icecast2_admin.html
icecast-2.2-kh14/doc/icecast2_basicsetup.html
icecast-2.2-kh14/doc/icecast2_config_file.html

tar: Unexpected EOF in archive
tar: Unexpected EOF in archive
tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now
and won't configure.
However, icecast-2.2-kh13.tar.gz untarred just fine.

Newbie Questions
Hi
Many thanks for providing this software.
I have version v2.0.0 b1023 installed on a QNAP NAS. The station is working fine (http://digitalcarnage.myqnapcloud.com:8002/stream). However I do have a few questions.
How do I submit my station to the Icecast directory? I may have got it wrong but I understood that the application submitted it automatically? Or do I have to submit/create and XML

Will this also bounce new connections to the relay server once the master server is maxed out?

Relaying with Icecast - stand-by or active all the time?
You can set globally with the <relays-on-demand>1</relays-on-demand> in the
global <icecast/> section, or you can configure per-relay with <on-demand>.
You can find it in the sample config file. (Does not say much more.)

Directory Listing on http://dir.xiph.org/
Hello everyone!
I am having a issue with what I am doing wrong here to get listed in
the xiph.org public directory. I have the newest
icecast-2.3.99.3_beta3, loaded on a Win7 box acting as server, and
using BUTT to encode the source at 32kbps, mono, .mp3, from VLC
playlists. I have the server config set to public, and have this code
in the icecast.xml file:

Generation of M3U and XSPF
Hello,
I'm a new user of icecast which is a really cool software.
I use it with the the http proxy module of apache httpd to do port
forwarding with 2 sub domains.
On my router i forward all tcp traffic of the port 80 to my server.
2 Sub domains are redirected to my server :
radio.mydomain.com (icecast)
music.mydomain.com (ampache)
my apache server host the ampache application with a
