icecast1 documentation
Hi guys, Can anyone point me to some good icecast1 documentation? I looked on the icecast.org website, but the /docs link only list the icecast2 documentation now and the whole site is void of icecast1 documentation... Using icecast1 instead of icecast2 because I need on-demand-streaming... Thanks, Kelv

[Re: icecast2 ??]
...OGG/vorbis does indeed merit the attention . The argument is not that icecast2 needs everything right now. It is only that until icecast2 has all the features meant for release, it should not be considered released. In that case, it is still under development, and the previously released version (icecast1 so far) is the current stable version. Those who are willing to give up the features not yet implemented in icecast2 in order to stream vorbis, can use the devel version. Those who don't need to stream vorbis can continue using the stable version. There is not a good rationality for considerin...

Some metadata missing, relaying icecast1 stream with icecast2
I'm relaying an icecast1 mp3 stream with icecast2. This works fine, and the song title is displayed correctly no matter if I use <relay-shoutcast-metadata>1</> or not on the relay. But, the stream name and other metadata provided by ices0 on the icecast1 server is not displayed in the listening client. Iceca...

Icecast1: "Client din't data fast enough"
Hallo, 06.10.02 I'm using Icecast1 with darkice on the same mashine, starting darkice by cron sending 2 mp3-Streams to the Icecast server and dumping the two mp3 stream and an an other vorbis into files (may later I set up icecast2) in the static dir of the Icecast. Locally connecting to the streams works well even works file stream...

[Re: icecast2 ??]
...ping for it. The fact that no release packages are available signifies to me that icecast2 is not yet ready for prime time. This is not meant to be a criticism with anything about icecast2, as I haven't used it, merely that it should not be treated as if it is released until it is released, and icecast1 should not be treated as obsolete until icecast2 is released. (BTW, I had this same argument for alsa, which has 'deprecated' its previous version in favor of its development version, and no longer supports the 0.5x versions-- you don't see this kind of stuff with the linux kernel). Pe...

Re [ogg]
I guess as a mercy plee for help I'll mention why I need to have the static ogg files play as the mp3 static files play with icecast1. I'm the founder of the LPBN and I've recently made Richard Stallman's files available as downloads (it is a work that is still in process). Stallman has requested I make them available as streams as well as downloads. So is there anybody out there that can help me make the ogg/vorb...

icecast1 type stats logs in icecast2 ?
Hi: You can get the info you want through the icecast2 admin interface. To use this, do the following: 1. Edit the following fields of the icecast.xml file: admin-user - set to the username to log into the admin system with. admin-password - The password to use with the username above. admin-root - the directory which will contain the XSL files for the admin interface. 2. Now copy

icecast1 and compilation on RH9
I know that icecast-1.3.12 is deprecated and for a good reason. I wanted to test it out on my Red Hat 9 box today. I found that it would not compile. Has anyone else seen this? What I wanted to try was testing streaming MP3 audio and relaying encoded icecast audio from one machine to another again. Is there an easy way to accomplish relaying from one machine to another using icecast2. I have

Missing headers in Icecast2
...cecast2. We got successful results with: -Windows (Netscape, Mozilla, CompuServe, or Opera) -Macintosh and Linux(Netscape, Internet Explorer for Macintosh, Safari, AOL, Opera, or CompuServe) For Windows (Internet Explorer or AOL) some headers sent by Icecast2 are missing. These headers are sent by Icecast1 but NOT Icecast2 (it is the reason why it always works with Icecast1). These necessary headers are: -Cache-Control: no-cache -Pragma: no-cache -Connection: keep-alive -Content-Length: 54000000 We SUCCESSFULLY imported a live stream into Flash on Windows/IE using a PHP script that forwards these he...

AW: Icecast1: "Client din't data fast enough"
Hello Geoff, Hello Hagen, I have also this problem, I use shoutcast with shout. on a Sun SPARCServer 5 with 170 Mhz, and I don't know what I can do. Making higher buffering at the server-side ?!? but where ? Using a better Maschine (Sun Ultra60 with 2x450 UltraSPARCII Processor) its the same problem: the stream is broken with "Client din't data fast enough" in Logfile. I hear

icecast1 type stats logs in icecast2 ?
Hey All. I have recently upgraded my streaming radio station to icecast2 type streaming. I, however miss the stats logs in icecast 1. These logs would list the number of listeners, and more importantly their ip addresses. I parsed this onto a nice looking web page, so local users in my LAN could know who was listening to the radio station. I guess icecast2 has some built in web serving

Icecast in Macromedia Flash
Hi Assorgia, It would be very nice if you could provide a network dump for both versions of Icecast1 and Icecast2. We could make comparisons of the results and maybe identify why Flash doesn't work with Icecast2. If you need it, I can help you by performing the tests on Icecast2/Windows but not on Icecast1 because I don't have any Linux box for the moment (I only found a version of Icecast...
