Asterisk SIP calls failing - not a proxy? What of RTP codec transcoding?
...is going to be an Asterisk install on the public
Internet with *no* private connection and some kind of SIP proxy on my
firewall firewall (behind which the phones will sit). All phones will
need to register with the Asterisk PBX through the outbound proxied
connections.

Grandstream firmware update DMTF Payload Type
Since firmware 1.0.3.81, unless I'm imagining things, Voicemail2 seems
to be having problems.
The Grandstream and sip.conf were set to RFC2833 now with that setting I
get extra digits during "Mailbox" and "Password" phases. 222001 instead
of 2201 for example.
When both are changed to "SIP info" there is no problem.
But what is the new setting "DTMF Payload

IAX <> IAX trunking... DP cache?
...bx:[privatepbx]@publicpbx/outgoing'
WARNING[15376]: File chan_iax.c, Line 4979 (iax_canmatch): Unable to
make DP cache
No IAX traffic appears to go out in response to this.. so I'm guessing I
have another problem.
Can anyone help point me in the right direction?

Working with FWD, IPTel, SIPPhone?
...her locally on my linux firewall, or provided by the
SIP carrier?)
This really could use a good HOWTO/FAQ, but for the life of me I can't
find it (if someone would take the time to guide me a bit with this, I
wouldn't mind taking a stab at writing one).
Thanks,

Then I tried sync_console and it worked fine, icblenke from the irc

Grandstream, SIP encryption
On the Granstream 102 box that I have in front of me, there is a
"feature list" on the side. One of the features has grabbed my
attention:
" - optional voice encryption (model 102D)"
Now, digging through Grandstream's site, I see that it's not offered
quite yet. However, sending mail to their standard "information"
email address has resulted in no
