Performance of guest
...en I use it, I have a problem. My guest's performance is not very good. For example, when I use Windows without kvm, the “lol” fps is 160, but my guest is only 135. why? I only have one guest what is the reason? What can we do to promote my performance? There are my some settings for me. timer: hypervclock cpu: 8 socket(intel@ core i7 7700k) memory: 16G GPU: 1060 network: virtio my environment: libvirt: 4.2 qemu: 2.12 windows: windows 7 host: ubuntu server 1604 If you need my detailed settings, please let me know.

Windows Guest I/O performance issues (already using virtio)
...the best 4k random read/write performance (mail and database workloads), but maybe I’m missing something at this layer too. Questions: 1. Does my VM config look reasonable for the latest releases of windows? Are there features I should be using that will help performance? 2. Why does the hypervclock timer make so much performance difference in windows VMs? 3. Does my virtualized CPU model make sense? I defined Haswell-noTSX-IBRS and libvirt added the features. 4. Which kernel branch offers the best stability and performance? 5. Are there performance gains in using UEFI booting the wi...

getting oriented/networking
I've been using virt-manager and kvm with a disk image (as in the raw bits) from a physical windows 7 machine. Initial performance was dreadful, but improved as I switched to virtio and spice. I've been running linux VM's somewhat longer (much longer if you count kvm without libvirt). There are lots of choices exposed by virt-manager. How do I find out what the choices mean, and

Re: Audio in Windows 10 VM is distorted. Using ALSA.
Hi, I found the main reason for sound distortions on my system is guest timer configuration. The working one is: <clock offset="localtime"> <timer name="hypervclock" present="yes"/> <timer name="hpet" present="no"/> <timer name="rtc" present="yes" track="guest" tickpolicy="delay"/> </clock> ... <qemu:commandline>a <qemu:arg value='-machine...

Windows 7 guest not starting with HyperV features enabled
Hi, I have a Windows 7 SP1 Pro 64-bit VM which works fine on libvirt 2.3.0 and Qemu 2.7.0. If I enable HyperV features (https://libvirt.org/formatdomain.html#elementsFeatures) like "relaxed", "spinlocks" etc - VM doesn't boot. "Starting Windows" text appears for ~2 seconds (no flying dots, no logo) and then it just goes to black screen. If I switch HyperV
