Xen 3.2 and Big Real Mode support?
Hello, I read in the announce of Xen 3.2.0 released that it has "preliminary support for a wider range of bootloaders in fully virtualised (HVM) guests, using full emulation of x86 ''real mode''" . I''d like to know what is the level of the emulation of x86 ''real mode''? I ask that because I tried to install OpenSuse 10.3 (I used the iso file

Bug: Limitation of <=2GB RAM in domU persists with 4.3.0
I just built 4.3.0 in order to get > 2GB of RAM in domU with GPU passthrough without crashes. Unfortunately, the same crashes still happen. Massive frame buffer corruption on domU before it locks up solid. It seems the PCI memory stomp is still happening. I am using qemu-dm, as I did on Xen 4.2.x. So whatever fix for this went into 4.3.0 didn''t fix it for me. Passing less than 2GB

Xen patches merged to upstream Linux 2.6.36, plans for 2.6.37?
Hello, It looks like upstream linux-2.6.git contains at least the following xen related new features for Linux 2.6.36: - Xen-SWIOTLB support (required for Xen PCI passthru and dom0) - Xen PV-on-HVM drivers - Xen VBD online dynamic resize of guest disks (xvd*) Congratulations! What are the plans for 2.6.37 merge window? I believe at least: - Xen PCI frontend Others? I''m going to

pci-passthrough nic but no link
...M via VT-d PCI passthrough. The IOMMU on my system seems to work, I can assign the PCI devices to my HVMs. The HVMs see the pci device and load their respective igb drivers, and ethtool -i eth0 works on each HVM, shows the drivers are loaded and the eth0 interfaces are up. Hvm0 - 82580.port0 Hvm1 - 82580.port1 Hvm2 - 82580.port2 Hvm3 - 82580.port3 However I don''t get any link at my switch for any of my ports. The problem seems to be that the link signal is provided by the igb driver (is that correct?), and since dom0 cannot bind the pci devices to the driver (since they need...

using physical disks with HVM
Hi, As a previous thread in http://lists.xensource.com/archives/html/xen-users/2006-06/msg01111.html tells, it should be possible tun run hvm domains with a physical disk. There where other threads about this, but no solution for my current problem. When I try to use a disk defined as disk = [ ''phy:data/faitest-client-generic-hvm-disk,ioemu:hda,w''] (The device is a lvm

Bug#737905: Xen: hvmloader causes immediate VCPU triple fault with SeaBIOS 1.7.4
Package: xen-utils-4.3 Version: 4.3.0-3 Severity: important Tags: upstream patch When using Xen compiled with seabios-1.7.4-1 (now in unstable/testing), HVMs fail immediately upon starting with a VCPU triple fault: (XEN) HVM1: Loading SeaBIOS ... (XEN) hvm.c:1253:d1 Triple fault on VCPU0 - invoking HVM shutdown action 1. This is because SeaBIOS can now be greater than 128k, which breaks an assumption in the hvmloader code. This is fixed upstream in 4.3.1, but can be fixed in 4.3.0 by backporting the following commit:...

Paravirtualised drivers for fully virtualised domains
(The list appears to have eaten my previous attempt to send this. Apologies if you receive multiple copies.) The attached patches allow you to use paravirtualised network and block interfaces from fully virtualised domains, based on Intel''s patches from a few months ago. These are significantly faster than the equivalent ioemu devices, sometimes by more than an order of magnitude.

[RFC] New shadow paging code
We (Michael Fetterman, George Dunlap and I) have been working over the last while on a full replacement for Xen''s shadow pagetable support. This mail contains some design notes, below; a patch against xen-unstable, giving a snapshot of the current state of the new shadow code, is at http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/~tjd21/shadow2.patch Comments on both are welcome, although the code is not
