Reliability between TCPonly and UDP for tinc?
...upper level application doesn’t handle the packet loss well, will this be the problem?
Or the upper level application have very limited tolerance to packet loss(like RDP application, I guess if the packet loss go to certain threshold, the connection will be lost).

Reliability between TCPonly and UDP for tinc?
...ither fix your network, or the upper level application, as TCP/IP already does retransmissions with packet losses, and since it’s just encapsulated over the vpn-tech-of-choice, it’s not the VPN-tech-of-choice that should retransmit, but the TCP/IP stack.

Reliability between TCPonly and UDP for tinc?
If the concern is more about the reliability instead of throughput, should I add TCPonly = yes in the host configuration to make the VPN runs on TCP?

ssh_config "database"/"sort"able format?
Hi there,
I'm in a situation where some of my clients have all these obscurity
things with ssh, like putting it on a different port, or a different
user to login for this specific host not mention several don't have
proper DNS names and and and. Life is to short to debate it with the
client so rather get in line, use ssh_config, and continue to serve
the client.
However, now I have the

Open SSH End-of-Life Schedule?
Q: What type of changes, "incompatibilities" do you see, or experience, that would require something like that?
Tomcat: i't s a "platform" where newer technologies (ie. JDK version N+3) could introduce unexpected problems for business apps that runs on that platform to have security for a period.
Postgresql: as new features (ie. logical replication, and partitioning)

Any way to run tinc on MikroTik routers?
Hello,
Please excuse my (probably newbie) question, but:
Since RouterOS, MikroTik's proprietary OS, is largely based on GNU/Linux,
anyone knows a way to run tinc on a MikroTik device?
This would be in order to make an (imposed, no choice given...) MikroTik
device (say the B1100AHX4 router) to participate in a tinc mesh, in
interoperation with GNU/Linux machines.

Unfortunately, I don't think this is an option (even if I may put
there a full PC, not only a Raspberry Pi), for a few reasons:
- what I'm trying to achieve is to substitute MikroTik's native

Yes, I know it's not OpenSSH, I'm just a happy user, but seriously for this use case, consider CrushFTP, or ProFTPd for the opernsource with the sftp module

"HA" ie. two linked tincds on the same ethernet segment
Goodday,
Currently using tinc 1.0.24 on Debian 8.x, OVH datacentre, two servers same VRACK (ie. internal ethernet bridge/switched together).
I’m wanting to get a remote server connected to both the two OVH servers for fail-over reasons, but having access via both to the shared vRack segment as a switch mode. Thereby Essentially I’m creating a ethernet loop…

sftp and utmp
Hi,
We need to limit concurrent sftp logins to one per user (because of bad
client behaviour). Is there any way to achieve this I have overlooked?
It seems it could be possible with pam_limits, if sftp sessions were
recorded in utmp (a guess from what I found googling around). If I
configure /etc/security/limits.conf with
testuser hard maxlogins 1
and connect with ssh, and try a second
