new Adaptec ATM driver available
...series of PCI ATM host adaptors (eg
ANA-5940)
Written by Chuck Cranor of Washington University's ARL (chuck@ccrc.wustl.edu),
the "MIDWAY" ATM device driver originally supported Efficient Network's
PCI ATM 155Mbps cards under FreeBSD, NetBSD, and OpenBSD. Working with
Anne Hutton of USC/ISI, Chuck has recently added support for the Adaptec
series of 155Mbps PCI ATM cards to the driver.
The driver is currently in use at Washington University for several
projects include the MARS video server project, the IP/ATM integration
project, and the "QoS Guarantees Within...

Billing Fun - anybody know where to get a NPA/NXX db?
...le on this page: http://www.nanpa.com/area_codes/index.html
I also came across a 1999 version of the whole shebang in a text file
here: http://sd.wareonearth.com/~phil/npanxx/
It would be nice to be able to accurately lookup city and state for
billing. Anybody have a resource?
Thanks,

Default Profiles
I'm currently test WinXP and Win2K against Samba 2.2.6. While I've got
profiles working, I havn't as yet got the workstation to retrieve default
profiles from the server.
Is this possible under Samba, and if so how. Any help will be greatly
appreciated.

Amazing, great protocol IAX

when the IAX client is an IAXY box. (no way they write CDRs, let alone
cdr_postgres) I'm still itching to try one of those things out -
anybody have good or bad experiences with them?
Thanks, much obliged,

thing I notice is that one of the endponts registers itself on port 1025
as opposed to 4569 for some strange reason. I don't see any errors
about binding to port 4569, so I'm wondering what's the deal. Any
ideas? Thanks very much in advance!

Where do I start troubleshooting if all of the iptable and ip print outs

metaflac: New tags to replace crossfading in players.
Hi All,
I'd like to improve the way MPD (and other players) switches between tracks.
I'd like something like crossfade but without any fading. I'd like the player
to just overlap the end of one track with the beginning of the next track to
provide a nice transition. Crossfading in MPD doesn't work for me since it
just ramps the volume up/down over a fixed time and some tracks

Confusion over how to configure WINS
We have a network of about 24 remote site all connecting to our home
office across a mixture of private frame relay and VPN across the internet.
In order to simplify our life, and at the same time, reduce the amount of
non critical and chatty traffic transversing the WAN links during business
hours, we are putting servers at each remote to do DHCP, DNS, WINS, and file
and print sharing. From the

New tags for better transitions between tracks.
Hi All,
I've been playing with some new metadata tags for a while and I
think I'm ready to share the joy. I've set up a puny webserver at
http://phippo.is-a-geek.com/mixramp.html (please don't slashdot it) with
some patches to implement and use the tags.
The patch for metaflac applies to the current CVS FLAC and adds the
command line option --add-mix-ramp. This is a

NT4 Performance Issues
Setting up on RH6.0 with NT4 clients.
using UNC path \\dax\polaris very fast (access < 1 second)
using mapped drive \\dax\polaris ---> p:\ very slow
(access > 2-3 minutes)
Is there a rational explaination for this? It seems to be the opposite
of the other performance problems I've seen to date.
Thanks.

NT4 Performance Issues (Update)
To add to my previous posting. Machines with SP4 work fine,
machines with SP5 exhibit the very slow access to mapped
shares with drive letters.

In my program, I added a header file and a source file named respectively

RE: No subject by Steve M
Just responding in case this may be of help to somebody with firewalling
issues. Not sure if this is off on a tangent to the original
question...
Here are three different forms of common firewall scripts and ways of
getting SIP to work behind them. The third one has some additional
stuff beyond just SIP although I can't remember why I wrote it that way.
I've been having no fun using
