max number from a list of numbers
Hi all, I'm hoping this question has a simple answer, but I can't find it through searching or trying commands. I have a list of numeric vectors called 'husk'. I'd just like to treat the set of all numbers from all vectors in the list as if it were one large vector, because I'd like to extract information, such as what is the max entry from all the numbers. > husk

Paice-Husk Stemmer
Hi everyone, I was working on the Paice-Husk Stemmer, which is a Bite Size Project for Xapian, and I have created a C++ as well as Snowball version of it. I read the algorithm, and picked the rules from here: http://www.comp.lancs.ac.uk/computing/research/stemming/paice/descript.htm The C++ code takes rules as input from a file and generates the stem of given word, whereas the Snowball version

Debian Squeeze packages available for Gluster 3.4.0-alpha2
I've made packages for Debian Squeeze for Gluster 3.4.0-alpha2, they are available on http://torbjorn-dev.trollweb.net/gluster-3.4.0alpha2-debs/. They built and installed successfully, and have been running nicely for a couple of hours, but your mileage may vary. The Debian packaging is on http://torbjorn-dev.trollweb.net/gluster-3.4.0alpha2-debs/glusterfs-3.4.0-debian.tar.gz. I took the

Add an example to the community page and contribute more code
Hi guys.I've finished an example indexer which acts like a grep replacement for a file.It indexes each line containing a proper noun in a given text file. The line containing the proper noun will be displayed upon searching for that noun.I would like to add it to the community code examples.I'm planning to write more examples which demonstrate some advanced features of Xapian along similar

How to evaluate the glusterfs performance with small file workload?
Hi guys I have met some troubles when I want to evaluate the glusterfs performance with small file workload. 1: What kind of benchmark should I use to test the small file operation ? As we all know, we can use iozone tools to test the large file operation, while for the sake of memory cache, if we testing small file operation with iozone, the result will not correct.

re sponses to issues on r-devel
I'm probably going to get in trouble for this, but ... What is the best way to get 'important' issues resolved by R-core? There is a category of 'issues' (I won't call them bugs or problems, although arguably they are so) that appear on R-devel and sink without ever receiving an explicit acknowledgment. These problems tend to be: * non-trivial * outside of the main

Performance after failover
Hey, all. I'm currently trying out GlusterFS 3.3. I've got two servers and four clients, all on separate boxes. I've got a Distributed-Replicated volume with 4 bricks, two from each server, and I'm using the FUSE client. I was trying out failover, currently testing for reads. I was reading a big file, using iftop to see which server was actually being read from. I put up an

wine-1.9.20 IE6/gecko internet connect error
Dear all, I am unable to browse the internet via ie6 using wine-1.9.20. After a clean install of wine (wine built from src), i can run ie6 and i am immediately prompted to install gecko. Whether or not i install this yields the same result - basically the window remains blank indefinitely as it tried in vain to contact the internet. Below is the debugging info spat out by the program. Has

Adding Support for Krovetz Stemmer Algo in Xapian
Hello, As mentioned on the project ideas page, Adding more support for stemmer algorithm, i found an implementation of Krovetz Stemmer Algo in C++ but before working on it to merge it into xapian, i needed help in recognizing the license information associated with the source code. To avoid further licensing issues kindly someone check the link

Cost of IP Phones, or Isn't It Just Software?
I took a little foray into pricing out IP Phones for my home pbx yesterday. $75-$750 seems to be quite a range, so I took a closer look. Cisco, for example, has different models such as the 7940 and 7960 which seem to only differ in the software. And buying a Cisco 7920 should cost you $500 w/o a license, and $200 more with a license? It seems to me that these prices are substantially

It comes from seeing how your input is required, to turn the Clark to an Enterprise; to help our world actually move forward growing and flourishing using the available technology and power of virtual reality, rather than stagnating in silence...

GlusterFS performance
Hello! I have GlusterFS installation with parameters: - 4 servers, connected by 1Gbit/s network (760-800 Mbit/s by iperf) - Distributed-replicated volume with 4 bricks and 2x4 redundancy formula. - Replicated volume with 2 bricks and 2x2 formula. I found some trouble: if I try to copy huge amount of files (94000 files, 3Gb size), this process takes terribly long time (from 20 to 40 minutes). I
