Hi everybody! Greetings from sunny Columbus, OH!
Hey everyone, I just wanted to drop onto the list and say hi. My
name is Chad Humphries and I am a partner at a ruby and rails shop in
Columbus, OH called EdgeCase.
Up until two months ago we were doing all of our dev work in
test:unit. I had read about RSpec before and after hearing Jim
Weirich speak at the Columbus Ruby Brigade about similar ideas I
decided to give it a go for a

Can't delete emails from or write replies to Inbox
Hi,
I'm running Dovecot and Thunderbird, with 2 separate accounts (business
and personal). One operates fine, but the other one won't allow me to
write replies to the Inbox (so that I can track current threads), and if
I move emails to another folder, it copies them instead. New emails do
appear in the Inbox.
I've checked the permissions on the two Inboxes, and they are the same

Sharing a USB Printer
We're trying to share an Epson USB inkjet printer via Samba 3.0.2-7 on our new
Fedora server.
The share is set up OK, and can be seen and opened from Windows clients. However,
although the Fedora box can print to the Epson, the Windows boxes can't.
All other Samba shares, including a laser printer connected to the parallel port,
work fine.
Does anyone have a clue how to fix this?

Dovecot not responding to external clients
Hi all
I have Dovecot on my Linux-Mint workstation, running IMAP for the
Thunderbird client thereon, but previously also for my phone and laptop
clients as well. Since upgrading to Linux-Mint 19, however, although the
Thunderbird client on the workstation works just fine, the other clients
can't connect. I've disabled the firewall, and nmap shows the ports
open, so it seems like some

Hello everyone,
I have a dataset in the following format:
col1 col2

What I want to do is:
loop a random sample 10 times, and for each time it is sampled I want to
run a correlation between both columns. What I have so far is this:
>feb <- read.csv("corr.csv") # where the dataset is for February
>attach(feb)

Samba Newbie
Hello,
I have been looking for a Windows alternative for File & Print servers.
Currently, we are using Win 2003. Patching overhead and virus outbreaks
are becoming problematic with reducing head count. I have looked at the
site, but there is no reference to 'better or the same as Win2003' only
NT is referenced. I'm trying to put a business case together to convince

''it'' duplicate example: BUG
I svn up''ed this morning, to get the following message with rake spec:

Anyone have any ideas why this might be going on? My specs were all
passing last night.

Can anyone advise me: a) does this coercion matter? b) If it does
matter, how can I track down where/how it is happening?
Thank you in advance,

Over-constrained? gamma mixtures using R: mix{mixdist}
...h is that this is not a data-specific issue but something to do
with over-constraining the model but I can't see why and I can't find
this question having been asked before.
Please can you advise me why this is a problem and whether there is a
way of doing what I wish to do.
yours,

"id" and "id username" don't match up when using Winbind groups
Hi,
I've got a file server running Ubuntu / hoary, with Samba/Winbind
version 3.0.14a. We moved to this new(er) version because we recently
upgraded to Windows Server 2003 SP1, and so anything older than this was
horribly broken.
Unfortunately, our group problems don't appear to be completely gone.
I've got the PAM and NSS winbind stuff setup so that domain users appear
to be local

Ticket tracking moved to lighthouse
Hi everyone,
We''ve moved ticket tracking for the rspec project to
http://rspec.lighthouseapp.com! Thanks to a valiant effort from Chad
Humphries, the move was done in an evening.
For those of you on the rspec-devel list, apologies for the wealth of
noise in this process. I set the trackers to stop sending email and
they apparently didn''t listen.
For those of you who submitted

Rails: Specing libraries
I was reading the documentation on using rails with rspec and I didn''t see
anything about how to spec libraries in the rails /lib directory so that
they''re integrated into the whole spec::rails system.
Where should I put specs for my libraries, and what''s the best way to
require the files that I''m testing in my spec?
I''ve never used rspec before, and

Spec/Test Speed
Just wanted to pick some smart people about this topic: What are you
guys doing to increase the speed of your specs?
I''m a big fan of autotest, but right now my current project has 438
specs (for rails). Most of them are in the model, and for all of
them we are hitting the database (they are more functional specs than
unit-tests). The whole suite takes 112 seconds (meaning the

help anyone?
Hi everybody.
Per http://rubyforge.org/pipermail/rspec-users/2007-November/004572.html,
we''re going to be moving ticket tracking over to lighthouse. We''d like
to get this rolling sooner than later, but we''re fairly well occupied
getting ready for the 1.1 release and writing rspec books :)
We''ve got the lighthouse account set up. The thing we need to do to

[OT] RailsConf Tickets ?
Just in case -- if anybody has got a spare ticket for RailsConf, i''d
be very happy to buy it... I live in Chicago, so i can do this on
very short notice as well, should anybody not be able to attend... :)
Otherwise - this being Chicago - no question there''ll be scalpers... :)
Thanks,
Sebastian
