Idiom question - assertions which aren''t in tests
All, Although I''ve been keeping an eye on Ruby for several years now, I don''t have a huge amount of experience with it. So please forgive me if I''m missing something obvious. I''m in the process of writing my first really "serious" Rails app and would appreciate your advice. I am wondering if there is a standard idiom for including assertions in

Hack
...Auth based account by simply knowing the account name. How is this possible? I am running Asterisk 11.5.0. Now it's my fault I used a dictionary based account name but how did they bypass the set ip I had under the account for this host. This also happened with fail2ban running and I pay for Humbug . Nothing caught it. Its just chance that I happen to be in the CLI and noticed it. In a span of 30 minutes they had made over $200 worth of calls all to the same number . Anyone have any idea on this and any ideas on preventing this. John Bittner CTO [cid:image003.png at 01CECB8D.765B3840] 380...

Socket address problems with 2.5.1pre1
...rote 616 bytes read 70 bytes total size 143069 The forward name lookup still fails but at least the numeric address is correct. It looks like the trucation getpeername() has to do goes unnoticed and this causes problems with output from getnameinfo(). In message <20010813234035.I1015@wistful.humbug.org.au> Martin wrotes that: I have merged the KAME.net IPv6 patch onto the track-kameipv6 branch. It compiles and seems to work but is not yet updated to fit into HEAD (i.e. 2.4.7pre). There are some issues that need to be addressed: in particular I think the patch makes more assump...

I lost the RSpec fight
I''ve been working on a Rails project with one other developer; he was using Test::Unit, and I was using RSpec. That works OK for a while, but obviously it starts causing pain when you have to check in two places to see if a piece of code is properly tested/spec''d, you can''t use TextMate shortcuts to switch back and forth between code and test, you have to duplicate

T.38 not working - help needed with log interpretation
Dear all, I have the following situation: Local T.38 endpoint <-> ASTERISK <-> SIP provider (with T.38 support) I am trying to send a fax from my local T.38 endpoint to arbitrary external fax numbers (which I am not in control of, so I don't know if the other end supports T.38, is connected to a PBX, who is their provider, and so on), of course trying to use T.38 at least from

Why Ruby on Rails won''t become mainstream
Why Ruby on Rails won''t become mainstream http://beust.com/weblog/archives/000382.html Kind of interesting, but didn''t convince me. Though, yeah, I can imagine a lot of naive programmers sticking with PHP and VB (the type of crowd that also doesn''t run their own servers, so they''re dependent on hosts offering Rails for them). Rails DOES have an IDE - soon

....8 gig file in the shared drive, now I can see the file using the samba compiled from source. However, I can't copy the file. Permissions are ok. I guess I could turn on some debugging and dig in, but if someone has a suggestion that would be good too. T.38 not working - help needed with log interpretation
...ter 32 seconds (measured from the begin of the transmission) Asterisk claimed that there was a timeout with receiving an answer to a critical packet, and ended the transmission (by sending BYE messages to both ends). Wireshark and SIP debug analysis have shown that this error message is completely humbug. I have thoroughly gone through the logs line by line more times that I could count, and (by following the CSeq) I every time have seen that the error message was relating to one or more OK messages which Asterisk had sent to the provider, but I swear that the provider correctly had ACKed every sin...
