HTB_HYSTERESIS
All: I have been told that HTB_HYSTERESIS might have some effect on rate calculations. This file is usually in /usr/src/linux/net/sched/sch_htb.c. If I change this file I have to re-compile. I am not quite sure how to do this. Can someone list the steps necessary to re-compile or point me to a doc that explains how to do so. Thanks....

HTB dequeueing in pairs fixed
I posted earlier when I noticed that htb was releasing packets in pairs, even though my burst/quantums were 1 pkt. To fix I set HTB_HYSTERESIS 0 in net/sched/sch_htb.c . This gives a noticable gain in upstream worst case latency, for me with 256kbit/s up I used to see +90 sometimes, now it''s +45. HTB MPU
Hi. I wrote in a reply to a mail on here recently that you can''t set mpu (minimum packet unit) on HTB as you can on CBQ. I''ve just noticed that there is a patch on devik''s site which does mpu and overhead. http://luxik.cdi.cz/~devik/qos/htb/ For dsl users mpu is, for practical purposes going to be 106 - overhead is still variable though, depending on packet size.

This is one of my test classes: class htb 1:10 parent 1:1 prio 0 quantum 2048 rate 160Kbit ceil 400Kbit burst 1803b/8 mpu 0b cburst 2111b/8 mpu 0b level 0 Q1: where does "level 0" stand for? icmp latency question
Hi, Our company''s main line is quite busy the whole day and my shaping is working perfect, however even if I give icmp priority the pings still jump around quite a bit. We do have a backup line which hardly get used only if the main line drops. I''ve set ip rule to route all icmp through that and now the pings are perfect. Gamest and QoS
Hi I share my bandwith (adsl 512/128) between 12 users. I set up simple qos script for incoming (IMQ) and outgoing traffic using htb in root, 4 classess and esfq qdisc at leafs. Interactive traffic goeas to class1 , http,mail etc. to class2, p2p, ftp to class3, and rest to class4. Classess divide link in proportion 20% (prio 1), 40% (prio 2), 20% (prio 3) ,20% (prio 4) This works

Is this possible?
I am trying to do ingress flow control with htb + imq, and as could be expected it isn''t working well. It works a lot better when I keep the htb ceiling well below what the link can actually carry - I guess because htb gets to throttle the TCP fast start before it causes packets to be dropped.
