htb vs hsfc
HTB versus HFSC, both qdisc offer the same kind of service, if you want to see comparative test results, go to http://www.rawsoft.org at the line "TEST RESULTS" you will find the results for a sharing test and a burst test. You will see that both qdisc are good. _______________________________________________ LARTC mailing list / LARTC@mailman.ds9a.nl

HFSC and prioritization
I''m using HFSC to limit bandwidth for our wireless customers. However, I''d also like the bandwidth prioritized based on packet type. This is what I''m trying right now, and I''d just like some input from anyone out there knowledgeable in this on whether it does what I want it to do: Eth1 -> HFSC ........|-> HFSC (User1) (Min 512 Kb, Max 1024 Kb, Burst 1536

problem with filters - packets ''slipping'' through them when they shouldn''t
Hi! I''m trying to shape my internet connection traffic using hsfc and I''ve encountered the following problem (may not be connected with hfsc). on my lan interface I shape incoming traffic like this: tc qdisc add root dev eth1 handle 1: hfsc default 1003 tc class add dev eth1 parent 1:0 classid 1:1003 hfsc ls rate 10kbit ul rate 10kbit tc class add de...

Bridge HFSC QOS questions ...
...and QOS ... I''ve got a serveur with 2 interfaces eth0,eth1 inside br0 bridge ... nothing of special ... If I understand all, normally I should configure TC class and qdisc on each physical or use ebtables to manage packets on output ... right ? I''ve attached my qos_script that hsfc and layer7 module. I use only Iptables in this script... might be should I use ebtables too ? Does anyone can take a look to this script and tell me If I''ve done any errors because seems that not works :( Thanks for the help Sébastien _______________________________________________ L...

Iptables matching on IFB
Hey folks, I stumbled across the Mastershaper project ( http://www.mastershaper.org/ ) but I have a little problem: I wanted to shape the traffic coming from the router itself aswell as coming from the LAN behind the router, for that task I need IMQ, but with IMQ iptables-(layer7)-matching is not possible. Now I''ve talked with the programmer and he said the following: >The problem is

English translation of article on HFSC
...ded to the Linux kernel over two years ago, yet there isn''t a great deal of documentation in English on the implementation itself, as he himself observes. I undertook this effort as a result of a posting on this list [4] from several weeks ago, inquiring about further documentation on HSFC. Thanks very much to Klaus Rechert for reviewing the translation and Linux Magazin for allowing the English translation to be distributed. The academic work underlying HFSC was submitted as an ACM paper [5] in 1997, and is available in English to illustrate the conceptual underpinnings of HFS...

How to priorize VoIP in a Wi-Fi scenario? Default qdisc in Linux, PRIO, HTB and HFSC ...
...am missing some HFSC parameters as dmax and umax but I do not know very well how to setup them. In case of saturation I just want to have VoIP with 70% of the resources, video with 29% and data with 1%. In case of no saturation I would like borrowing among them. Please, can someone tell me a nice HSFC setup to get this? On the other hand iperf probably is not the best tool but it is the only one I have tested. If someone has any other recommendation it is more than welcome :) Well, this was my first email to the list. Hope I am lucky and get some answers to my questions. I will keep doing test...

Fwd: Traffic Shaping on a Transparent Bridge not working!
I''m trying to shape traffic on a Devil-Linux box. This note was originally sent to their maillist, because the LARTC list appears to have been down for the past few days. My mailbox was just flooded with a half dozen or so confirmation requests in response to my repeated attempts to subscribe to this list. ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: drew einhorn
