Need help HPUX11 and winbind (pwgetent)
Hello,
I have Samba 2.2.5 installed with winbind. on an HPUX 11 server. I am
using Domain security using a W2K PDC. I have successfully joined the
domain, and wbinfo commands (-t -u -g ) all come back with good data. The
problem is I can not get pwgetent to run. It always says not found. I have
the libnss_winbind.so libraries linked in /lib, and winbind in my
nsswitch.conf. Also have the

rsync 2.4.6 hanging on HPUX11 only over firewall.
We are running rsync 2.4.6 on HPUX-11and using it to push a document-root from a staging area to several servers running rsync in daemon mode.
The rsync client syncs successfully to modules on the same server and to most other machines, but hangs when trying to syncronise across a firewall (from SECURE zone to DMZ)
(The firewall port IS OPEN!!)

ssh not resolving host names on HP-UX 11i
Actually it really never was answered, but here's how I fixed (worked
around) it. At first I thought installing patch PHNE_27796 (libnss_dns
DNS backend patch) had fixed it. It didn't. It just flip-flopped the
problem. Prior to installing that patch, ssh would never go to DNS no
matter what was in nsswitch.conf. It appeared to only look in
/etc/hosts. After installing the patch, ssh

INETD Question.
I'm currently running version 2.0.7 of samba(CIFS9000). I have HPUX 11.x
installed on the samba server. When I try to run this from inetd it doesn't
work. I can run a startup script that runs the smbd as a daemon and it works
fine. But if I try to run it from inetd it won't start. The previous version
of Samba 1.9.18p10 that I had on this server worked fine. Is this a bug in

[Bug 947] ssh-keyscan.c fails to compile on HP-UX 10.20
...nd 3.9p1 broke the build
of ssh-keyscan.c for HP-UX 10.20. Stubbing out lines 184-193 of includes.h
fixes this problem. I am not sure what the portable automake method way of
detecting HP-UX 10.20 is, but #ifdef'ing out this section of the header file
according to a platform version less than HPUX11 is needed to fix the 10.20
build. After #if 0'ing out these lines I did a make clean and a make and
everything then build successfully.

/dev/random for HP-UX 11.00
..."developed" an implementation of /dev/random for HP-UX 11.00
that can be used to speed up entropy gathering for OpenSSL/OpenSSH
implementations on HP-UX 11.00.
It is still a first release, lots of stuff still to be done, but
interested people can take a look at:
http://www.josvisser.nl/hpux11-random/
Share and enjoy!

P.S. I sent this message to the "user" mailing list too, but that seems
to be dead... I checked the archives and it's mostly spam in
there...

New PAM kbd-int code
http://www.mindrot.org/~djm/openssh/openssh-newpam-20030123.tar.gz
Is a snapshot of the new PAM-via-KbdInt authentication support from
FreeBSD's OpenSSH tree.
Please test this now. I can only surmise by the silence that has greeted
my previous requests for testing that the code works perfectly.

Patch for FIPS 140 mode - take 3
Greetings.
(Third try at sending this, the first two seemed to disappear without a
trace.
Perhaps use of MS Outlook was the problem, even though in plain text...? Or
attachment too big (22Kb)? Would like to know...)
The final source code and documentation package for a FIPS 140 validated
mode
of OpenSSL was recently submitted. Once the final certification is

Openssh-2.1.0p1 test release
This to announce a test release of 2.1.0p1 before making it widely
available.
This release includes many fixes to problems reported over the last

- spurious error and coredumps caused by the inbuilt entropy gathering
- RSAref detection
- Compilation fixes for Solaris and others
It also contains (completely untested) support for compiling without
RSA support. This may be
