...on 2.2.4 on my Linux 7.3 box, reconfigured it (I think I did things in the correct order:configure,make realclean,run patch,configure,make,sh.makerpms.sh), created a new rpm, uninstalled the old samba, reinstalled the new rpm, fixed the conf files, reloaded samba and now my printers appear as "HPLASERJET on _smbserver". HPLASERJET is queue name which is fine, but why is the server called _smbserver instead of either the Netbios name (samba) or the ip address (192.168.0.10)? I am unable to connect or view any printer properties because of this. Thanks, Justin

...ely Windows 98 clients (I haven't checked with NT,2000,XP yet) only get the default ppd. What is the proper naming convention for the ppd files? Currently we use the printer DNS name pr100, pr101, pr102, ... Should the ppd files be named according to the Name of the Printer within the ppd file: hplaserjet or whatever? TIM

Hi, We're setting up a PDC, and would like to have a login script to deliver the mapped drives to users in particular groups, and connect to printers. The printer drivers come from the [print$], share. Does anyone have any good resources for this? What's the easiest and simplest thing to get going --vbscript or batch files? Thanks, chris
