[LLVMdev] C++ ray tracer performance: gcc 4.3.2 vs llvm-gcc 4.2.1
On the off chance anyone here is interested in more performance results, I compiled and ran the fastest of the implementations of the ray tracer in C++ from my language comparison: http://www.ffconsultancy.com/languages/ray_tracer/ This is a small program with a relatively large hotpath. Specifically, around 30% of the time is spend in the ray sphere intersection but another 30% is also spent in the intersect function that recursively traverses a hierarchical scene. This is on an (eight core) 2.1GHz Opteron 2352, compile time and then run time for each compiler in 32- and 64-...

[LLVMdev] unable to decode llvmpro.out for path profiling
Hi, I am using Path Profiling to path profile a C code. I'm using this commands: $ llvm-gcc -c -emit-llvm file.c -o file.bc $ opt --insert-hotpath-profiling file.bc -o file.ins.bc $ llc -march=x86 file.ins.bc -o file.ins.s $ gcc -I llvm2.9/runtime/PathProfling.c -I llvm2.9/runtime/CommonProfiling.c $ ./a.out This will give me path profile of of program in 'llvmpro.out' to decode this profile data I tried as: $ llvm-prof -A file.ins....

[PATCH 5/7] vga_switcheroo: Use device link for HDA controller
...'t be touching devices > after enumeration (although there might be holes there for things like > ASPM where a sysfs file can cause reconfiguration of several devices). I assume with PCI core config accessors you're referring to pci_read_config_word() and friends? Those are arguably hotpaths where we wouldn't want the overhead to check runtime PM status everytime. They might also be called from atomic context, I'm not sure, and the runtime PM callbacks may sleep by default (unless pm_runtime_irq_safe() was called). > > +static void quirk_gpu_hda(struct pci_dev *hda) &g...

[PATCH v5 0/9] skb paged fragment destructors
...TAP interface is causing the frags to be copied to normal pages during skb_segment(). * Various fixups related to the change of alignment/padding in shinfo, in particular to build_skb as pointed out by Eric. * Tweaked ordering of shinfo members to ensure that all hotpath variables up to and including the first frag fit within (and are aligned to) a single 64 byte cache line. (Eric again) I ran a monothread UDP benchmark (similar to that described by Eric in e52fcb2462ac) and don''t see any difference in pps throughput, it was ~810,000 pps b...

[PATCH 00/12] Bunch of patches for cross-compilatio + RP4
Initially out there as #965245. I strongly prefer to build ARM64 packages on non-ARM systems. Something about my main build machine having twice the cores and twice the clock speed. As such after many builds I've managed to generate a set of patches which appear to mostly function to get functioning cross-builds of Xen. These are NOT a 100% solution. Some packaging hacks were needed. In
