Apache 2.2 + Mod Proxy Balancer + Mongrel - Hot Linking Protection?
Hey guys,
Ok, basically I coded a ruby on rails CMS to manage a bunch of media
files. I am finding that a lot of people are "hot linking" to these
media files and would like to prevent this to save bandwidth. Usually
in the past, it hasn''t been a problem, I would add something like the
following to my .htaccess file
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^$

Hotlinking an entire row in an HTML table
Hi,
This seems simple but I cant get it to work... I have a table with
4 or 5 columns and 20-30 rows. I''d like to have the ability to click
anywhere in a particular row to fire an action, such as bringing up
a "Details" page for the clicked row. This would eliminate the need
to generate a "Details" link at the end of every row, which is what I
have now and looks

agi exit problem
The way I worked around this is to log the "uniqueid" in a database when the
call is placed with the start time and then execute an agi script upon all
hangups:
exten => h,1,AGI(call_log.agi,${EXTEN})
That script queries the database for the "uniqueid" and if it exists in the
table it figures out the call length and updates the record
It's a little bit of perl

Modifying Apache Conf To Block Leachers
Howdy,
I''m using Apache 2.2 + Mongrel with great success, using the sample
configs from the Mongrel site.
We have some MP3s on the site and recently someone has been stealing
them and basically leaching them from the site, linking to them from
an off-site location.
I''ve been trying to modify my Apache conf to check the referrer and
adjust accordingly as below but no

<video/> and cross site scripting policy.
It's been brought to my attention that Mozilla will be changing their
implementation of <video/> to default deny cross-site requests.
In other words: <video src="http://someothersite/videos.ogg"/> Will
not work by default. It will not work like the <img/> tag does, or
like the embed/object tags do which are

Free g.729.1 implementation
1st. - I'm from Poland, we don't have (yet, and hopefully forever) software
patents.
Is there any free g.729.1 implementation for asterisk? I want to use it for my
private use (dialing into inet->PSTN gateway), and I don't want (now) to buy
codec, as I don't know if I will be using this service in future (now I just
want to test it). Any solutions? Maybe even

Software Anounce: htb frontend, for multiple hosts auto bandwidth management
Hi all, i''ve coded htb-gen, a GPL htb frontend and much more...
htb-gen is meant to be an easy, scalable, yet powerfull, bandwidth
management tool. You can set up/down portions of bandwith for each
host or network, that goes trough your router/firewall.
Prioritary traffic(web, mail, gaming, ftp, voip, streaming) is
preferred over Junk traffic(kazaa, emule, etc). Also dynamic
bandwith

The Smallest Asterisk Server Ever?
Hello all,
Saturday night, after a couple of shots of bourbon, I realized
that I had an old PC sitting in the garage that I could use as an Asterisk
gateway if I just blew the dust off it and reloaded it with a modern Linux
distribution. In my characteristically impulsive manner, I grabbed it and
started cleaning it up so that I could put it in my office without my wife
having a fit.

Where to place uploaded files for later download?
Hi there,
I am working in a RoR application which allows certain users
to upload files. Currently I store these files
in a directory called "files". This directory is located in
the RoR application directory:
rails/rails_application/files
So users don''t have access to them.
Now I want users to be able to download some of these files
(they will search based on some

Ingress policing (matching netfilter marks)
Hi,
I''m having issues with policing my incoming traffic by matching packet marks
made by iptables. I''ve checked as many sites and guides as I can find, and I
seem to be doing the exact same thing as they all are, but there''s still no
success. As such, I was wondering if anyone can have a quick look to see if
I''ve done anything obviously stupid?
Essentially, I

Looking for a set of definitive answers (long)
Question:
We recently moved to a Samba-based file server, which holds mission-
critical data on it (.dbf files used by our Accounting software, etc.)
The goal was to create a file server that had excellent performance while
providing Volume Management, but we felt that something like Veritas was
overkill for our needs.
Design Goals:
- Redundant Hardware
- Manual Failover (this was an
