network-multinet usage?
Still trying to make my VMs appear on a subnet of their very
own and route traffic to/from them from the Dom0.
This network-multinet script sounds ideal for what I want:
http://thepenguinpriest.com/linux/scripts/network-multinet.html
However, the description of building a routed network says
I need to call the script and give it the "virtual ethernet
device (vethX)" that lives in

ideal xen setup?
Various linux distros come with xen supported after a fashion
with xen patches developed for one kernel hacked into the
kernel they want to use (with varying degrees of success :-).
We''ve been using xen for a while at work to try and provide
development and testing platforms for a slew of different
linux distros to check out our software under lots of
different conditions.

On my host system (centos 7) which has
openssh-clients-6.4p1-8.el7.x86_64, if I run ssh-keyscan <target>,
where the target system is fedora 24 with openssh-7.2p2-12.fc24.x86_64,
then the /var/log/secure file on the target system gets this message:

I'd love to have something like an "update-anyway" option for
StrictHostKeyChecking that is like "ask", but if the key has changed
gives you the option of going ahead and replacing the old host key
with the new one.
Folks are constantly re-genning test systems...

Centos 7 as gateway - UDP performance is busted/awful?
I just replaced a dead system disk on my KVM host that was
running an ancient fedora 13. Since centos 7 was available,
I decided to go with it to get some long term stability.
The problem is that NFS mounts inside the virtual machines
don't work for spit when talking to older NFS servers that
must speak UDP.
Is there something about UDP traffic that requires tweaks
I don't know about for

Sieve as mail client?
A slightly off topic question, but maybe someone here has seen
something like this:
I want a program that operates entirely on the client side of
an IMAP server, and implements the sieve filtering language
by doing the necessary client side operations to move mail
on the IMAP server, expunge mail, etc.
It would also act as a proxy between my real mail client and
the IMAP server so I'd never

Strange dry-run problem
I was working on a backup script today and doing lots
of runs with the --dry-run option to make sure I
had things the way I wanted them.
One particular filesystem I was backing up always
hung right as it should have been finished. (This
happened every time I did a dry run, it was 100%
reproducible). Several other filesystems I was
backing up had no problems of any kind with the
dry run using the

I''ve got a bunch of operating systems installed in files
which are emulating disks.
Anyone know if there is a way to turn those into vmware
style virtual disks?

X forwarding uses up some resource?
After many weeks of running tests on different systems, all
started from inside the same X session and using ssh -X
forwarding to make the display accessible from the systems
running the tests, X forwarding just sorta stops working.
The remote machines still get a localhost:N DISPLAY variable
established, but trying to actually run an X client
results in connection errors.
Does this sound
