smbd to authenticate via pam modules
...y to authenticate against kerberos or other external service at the backend (so that the user does not need to issue a ticket in advance) ? I know there is a possibility to store passwords in local database, but its just a duplication of information and need for an extra orchestration in this case. Hopefuly there is some simple way to achieve that without doing this or using the AD overhead. I just spent whole day googling with no good solution at the end, so I am probaly missing some terminology to produce well formulated questions. Sincerely, David

Ranking and term proximity
Hi, I was reading an article recently about how google ranks results (among many other things of course) based on the proximity of the search terms in the source documents. In addition, the position of the search terms in the search query string itself is also taken into consideration when determining how important each term is. Does Xapian do something similar - at least for the first part?

rsync - windows how should I compile the code any clues - Thanks !
Hi, I have a unique issue that I am dealing with here. I need to develop rsync algorithm into a library that can be re-used with my VB / VC application on Windows platform. I need your advice if there is any library already available on the Internet for this? I did get librsync but that is just a header file which I do not know how to compile also with the existing code I have. Can you

lazy-load SNI?
Hello, We?re rolling out large SNI deployments for our mail servers. Each domain gets an entry like this in the config: local_name mail.foo.com { ssl_cert = </ssl/domain_tls/*.foo.com/combined ssl_key = </ssl/domain_tls/*.foo.com/combined } There are a couple problems we?re finding with this approach: 1) Dovecot wants to load everything at once, which has some machines taking

At this point, the server will display an error message (something like ''Service temporarily unavailable'') on any other request that is made during the time of the debugging session. 5) After inspecting the problem (and hopefuly fixing things) he could call something like ''continue'', which would exit the IRB session and let the server return to its normal state. 6) Also, script/server should follow a similar behavior when meeting a breakpoint, except for the HTML page which should be different. 7) The HTM...

xen upgrade problem, cant boot from 3.4.2 to 4.0.0
Hi Guys! I have a very interesting problem. I run gentoo and have been running xen-3.4.2 on 2 server computers (Supermicro-based, IBM). A little time ago, I have tried to upgrade xen-3.4.2 to xen-4.0.0 (with emerge) on the Supermicro server, but the computer wasn''t able to boot with the following breakdown: [ 62.848947] 0800 1315427328 sda driver: sd [ 62.849264] 0801 208813 sda1 [

ups question from your web site
Dear Nick, thanks for writing. I no longer work on development of UPS drivers; you will probably get a more up-to-date answer from the nut-upsuser mailing list (cc'd). I don't know if the Back-UPS 550 has similar commands to the Back-UPS ES 650. If it has a USB connection, then the answer is probably yes. The UPS will automatically turn itself back on after a power failure; this is the

Samba3.0.2a, MS Office (Excel), Save problem.
Hi all, I've done a brief search of the list archieves and cannot find any solutions to this problem, so I'll post my story and hopefuly someone will have a better answer. Brief Description: This problem has now occured with a number of users, running different versions of Office (see below). When saving documents, Office seems to set the read-only bit. The problem is best shown with Excel, which when saving a spredsheet, report...

That's unavoidable for now :-( Here we started analyzing maillog and put into dovecot config only these ssl certs for domains that are actually used with TLS. It's very ugly and short- sighted approach but hopefuly proper solution will be implemented by dovecot team before all people start to use TLS. > Thank you in advance! > > -Felipe Gasper > Mississauga, ON -- Arkadiusz Mi?kiewicz, arekm / ( maven.pl | pld-linux.org )

dovecot and libnss-ldap
Hi, I've been using dovecot 0.99.14 for a few years, with libpam-ldap and libnss-ldap, and never experienced any problem with those. I expect to soon switch to dovecot 1.0rc15 (or whatever gets available in Debian Etch, hopefuly dovecot 1.0), but I've seen some warnings against dovecot+libnss-ldap... Is the problem with libnss-ldap a recent problem (I mean it was not a problem with older dovecot such as my 0.99.14)? Is it still a problem even with 1.0rc22? Is there any hope to have it fixed before 1.0? Note that whil...

Signatures in Samba with windows XP
Hi all, I repost the message about the signatur because I've not had any response. This time I hopefuly to get some ideas. When we put the parameter "server signing = auto or Yes" in smb.conf, the Windows XP clients can no longer connect to the samba (3.0.2), the "net use \\server\ipc$ /u:user password" return error 64. If I disabled the "server signing" the connectio...

Virtual switches
Hi, [1] Are there guides for setting up a virtual switch for use in between guest domains in Xen ? [2] In Xen, is it possible for a guest domain to perform a initial dhcp IP lookup from another guest domain ? How are the configurations like ? Are there references or step procedures ? Kindly advice. Thanks. _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list

flexmix
Hi, I am trying to understand how to use the flexmix package, I have read the Leisch paper but am very unclear what is needed for the M-step driver. I am just fitting a simple linear regression model. The documentation is far from clear what the FLXmclust function does, but, it in principle could do all I need, however, I do not get sentible results as if I try the following the result is poor:

Dovecot Oy merger with Open-Xchange AG
I think everyone shares your concerns. But there are no rules that the outcome of this merger must get something bad, so let's see what happens. I hope that it's true what Timo said and that dovecot can evolve and get even better as it is today. Good luck guys! Regards, Adrian. Transfering Calls
I am having several users complain about not being able to use the # button when dialing into IVR's, etc, because the # key prompts for transfering the call to another extension. Is there a way to still provide transfer capability, but not use the # key? I am using SNOM 200 phones so if anyone has any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks, Brian
