Shares not accessible when using FQDN
Hi, "CLUSTER" is because this server is related to a computing cluster, and is the master node of that cluster ;) No relation with Samba infrastructure, this is just a DNS/Netbios alias. To be honnest the reason why this server is also a DC is to solve a big issue appeared when migrating from 3 to 4. We had no other choice because of a couple of reasons, however it is planed to demote it in the near future howerver at this time it needs to work Ok thank you I will try by removing the winbind...

self compiled 4.10.3 replication failure.
...a/samba-4.10.3/RHEL7/SPECS/samba-v410x.spec ----------------------------------------- %if 0%{?fedora} || 0%{?rhel} > 7 %global with_python3 1 %else %global with_python3 0 %endif ----------------------------------------- And 'samba-tool' dns seems to work fine (for me) on python2. To be honnest, the only major change I saw in the compile process for 4.10.x was that one of the required library updates depended on a more recent make of cmake3 (for which I am now providing as SPEC and src.rpm from the above repo as well). But aside from that, the process was mostly a matter of updating t...

remote lxc via libvirt?
Has support for creating or using lxc containers on remote machines been added to libvirt yet? https://help.ubuntu.com/12.04/serverguide/lxc.html says "Libvirt is a powerful hypervisor management solution with which you can administer Qemu, Xen and LXC virtual machines, both locally and remote." so I assume it's been done and I'm just having trouble seeing it... otoh, I hear

mount r/w and r/o
I have an ext3 filesystem mounted r/w on 1 host and r/o on multiple hosts. Dangerous but cost effective. I recently implemented some protection through a fc switch that restricts some hosts to r/o access to the data luns. So if someone types mount -o rw or something, all is not lost. The issue occurs when it's mounted r/w on 1 host and another host attempts to mount it r/o. The mount

Samba
Hi, I recently found a need for me to setup a Samba share for some quick and dirty file copying. I already knew how to do this, but was wondering if it would be worth while to add it to the tips & tricks or howto section.? Thanks! -will -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

ot: vlans and vmware
Does anyone have VLAN tagging working from within a guest on vmware-server? I'm running a centos 4.5 guest on a centos 5 host with vmware server 1.04and I've tried creating vlans using both the /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts method and just doing it from the cli via vconfig. Either way appears to work, the OS creates the vlans, but I think vmware's network adapter must be eating the

Can't modify ms word files with samba 3.3
Hello, I tried this week to upgrade my samba 3.2.4 (2 PDCs one trusting the other) to samba 3.3.0 then samba 3.3.1, and apart from the problem with winbindd and trusted domain, my users are not able to modify any ms word document (excel does the same). You can open the file correctly, modify it, and when saving it, it pops up "Access denied" If you try to save the file in the same

floating point
Hi, I've tried to find info about unofficial 32bit float support in FLAC, and found several conversations. Most of them were talking about a 24bit limit, but from the manual I guess that this limitation is gone, as it supports up to 32bit integer. So my question is, what would be the best way, or what is a common way to FLAC-encode floating point audio? The first idea is obvious, we have

Shares not accessible when using FQDN
Hi guys, Thank you for your answer. Meanwhile I have new informations, the problem also happen on a workstation in the domain. This should not be a DNS issue. I validated that and I can authenticate and list shares. Just cannot enter into them when i'm using the FQDN o_O Note : It works well on Linux clients. Here is the Samba config file : Thank you ! # Global parameters

[FEEDBACK] Governance of GlusterFS project
Hello everyone, We are in the process of formalizing the governance model of the GlusterFS project. Historically, the governance of the project has been loosely structured. This is an invitation to all of you to participate in this discussion and provide your feedback and suggestions on how we should evolve a formal model.
