The perils of GMAX
gmax won't start up after the initial time. The messages I am getting indicate that it has become case sensitive with respect to names. The installer put in a directory named 'stdplugs' but the program wanted it to be 'StdPlugs'. So I renamed it. It still says these libraries fail to initialize. I must be missing a windows module but I did put in the recommended winetricks

Strange behaviour with ptmx file descriptors
Hi list
At job we have an old C program which works with industrial hand terminals
from Honeywell.
That terminal has its own ssh/telnet client to connect to a linux redhat
6.6 server (openssh-server-5.3p1-104.el6_6.1.x86_64).
Once it is connected to the linux box (using a certain user), a C program
is launched by the bash shell with the following parameters

Problem with clipping in Lattice, and closing a postscript device
...to draw the graph, the postscript file test.ps still has zero size. If at
this point I quit R, then test.ps will contain the output graphics. Is there
a way to "flush" the trellis device without exiting R?
Thank you very much in advance.

You seem to forget. Computers were invented to perform repetitive tasks.
Computer usage should be serving mankind - not making it more difficult

Drive already connected Error in Windows 2000
I have been successfully running with Samba 2.0.7 for more than a year now
but am having problems using version 2.2.7; both are running under HP-UX.
The 2.2.7 version of Samba is running under HP-UX 11, the 2.0.7 is running
under HP-UX 10.20.
Drive connections to Windows 2000 systems have started coming up with 'Drive
already connected' errors.

IP6 Anyone?
Today I received an allocation of IP6 addresses for some servers. I can
'play' with the last 2 of the 8 IP6 address segments.
I always thought, mistakenly, IP6 was 6 segments, because it was IP6.
IP4 had 4 segments. However IP6 is actually IP version 6 and it has 8
segments. The other interesting discovers are:
:: means one or more 0 segments, example :: can mean 0:0:0: or just 0:0:

Strange behaviour with ptmx file descriptors
...ent
The strange thing is all file descriptors of all processes are in place but
it seems for any strange reason, something happen to fd#13 ( C Program fd
#1 --> ssd read fd #13) because it disappears from the select call (it
won't be available in the read fd set ever)
ssh client is made by Honeywell company.
This behaviour is similar as when you send a Ctrl+S from the ssh client but
in this case, fd#13 is not lost.
Kind regards
Nacho.

update config.guess and config.sub to support aarch64
Hello,
would it be possible to update config.sub and config.guess to the latest versions (or at least version
from automake-1.13.1) in order to support new architectures based on the ARM 64 bit CPU?

3.0.0 install on AIX 4.3.3
Please help!
I downloaded samba-3.0.0.0 for AIX from Bullfreeware.com.
It downloaded and installed fine - I followed the instructions
carefully. I revised the /etc/services and /etc/inetd.conf files
and created the test/default smb.conf file.
I linked /usr/local/samba back to /usr/local as a tip suggested.
But I can't get the smbd or nmbd daemons or swat to start up!

Help on ext3 file system corruption issue
Hi All,
I m a novice developer of Linux applications. Recently I faced a file
system corruption. (I guess)
I have a Kernel 2.4.7-10 with ext3 file system in compact flash. The
system was up for 3 months and was running with average load conditions.
One fine day, it just started sending kernel messages on the serial
console. The message was like this.
EXT3-fs error (device ide0(3,2)):
