Fatal Error: Invalid HOMEDRIVE
All,
I've encountered the same problem as others who have posted under the same
subject.
I've had R-1.8.1 installed and running since it was released. Yesterday
morning when I tried to start Rgui.exe I got the subject error message.
Since I live at the whim of the network administrators I can only assume it
was a recent MS critical update.
I tried installing R-1.9.0 but no joy.

Permission on homedrives..?
Hi
I've got a samba PDC (samba 2.2.3a, RH 7.2, kernel 2.4.17, client is WinXP
pro).
I have a question about the homedrives-part in smb.conf.
Are the homedrive shares set up to allow access exclusively to the
appropriate user and no-one else ?
My smb.conf looks like that
[homes]
comment = Home Directories
browseable = no
writable = yes
valid users = %S
create mode = 0664
directory mode = 0775

Homedrive mapping
Hello everyone,
We are making extensive use of the homedrive mapping fields in AD.
(automagically mapping a drive letter to a UNC path without a logon script)
Since we sp2 applied to our clients, none of them have been able to map
their home drives to our samba servers.
According to Microsoft's q-article,
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;Q308580&, "this

invalid HOMEDRIVE
Hi all-
Some recent change...perhaps a windows update, or perhaps a change in
the network on which I use my computer....has made it impossible for me
to start R. When I try to start the program, I get a message that says
"Fatal error: invalid HOMEDRIVE". Any ideas on how to fix this?
Thanks much
Chris

Rgui, Startup, HOME, R_USER, ...
Hi,
Main objective: Let Rgui find my ~/.Rprofile and ~/.Renviron files,
where ~ is equal to getwd("~").
I have few comments/questions:
(A) On my WinXP Pro installation, the system environment variable
'HOME' is not availble to R, e.g. Sys.getenv("HOME") is empty. I
believe this is default case (correct me if I'm wrong). However, if I
set the "Start

Invalid HOMEDRIVE
Attempting to install the most recent R on a Windows/XP machine, I get
what appears to be a normal (completely default) installation. Then when
I attempt to load rgui I get the fatal error message: Invalid HOMEDRIVE.
Any explanation of the error or suggestions of fixes to files or
registry would be appreciated.

ask for help
Dear colleagues,
I am a beginner of using R. I am involved in some microarray data
analyses and found that R is the most common software in this area. I
tried to install the free software today. It seemed to be successful in
installing, but when I trigger the short-cut, I got a error massage
saying 'Fetal error: invalid HOMEDRIVE'. I have no idea where the
homedrive was defined (or

Samba roaming profile with folder redirection
Hi,
I have a domain controller which was configured to use the local profiles. We
have a relatively small group whose work required it. Now we are moving toward
using the domain for all machine with roaming profile. There are a lot of
posts dealing with the roaming profiles and the folder redirection. But I've
met some issues.
My configuration:
NS3 and SMB are hostnames of our servers.

problems with starting R
When I try to start R from my desktop, an "information"-window pops up:
"Fatal error: Invalid HOMEDRIVE".
I already deleted and reinstalled the program, but the problem lasts.
How can I solve this problem?
I would be very glad, if you can give me a hint, what??s going wrong.
Best regards

some thing the client does?
QUESTION#2: How/what/where/why is there a difference in the results

setwd in windows
Dear friends - windows R 3.3.3 - sorry to ask a simple question - but I
cannot make setwd work properly in scripts
In the example below I have made a directory in C (firstdir) and a
directory in that (secdir) and the intention is to change directory to
the second from the first - it works when I put the entire path but not
the tilde - what am I missing? I was around rwf 2.14 as per the help

getting R 1.8 or 1.9 to work!?
I've had a interesting day with R; can anyone offer any advice?
First with R 1.8.1. on XP Pro:
"R for Windows GUI front-end has encountered a problem and needs to close.
We are sorry for the inconvenience."
I then tried installing 1.9.0. and got the "information" dialogue:
"Fatal error: INVALID HOMEDRIVE"
instead of a functioning R!

upgrade 3.0.1 -> 3.0.2, problem with homes-share
...-linux 8.2 with ldap.
After upgrading from 3.0.1 to 3.0.2 we got following problem:
When users log-in homes-share is not allways reachable, so automatic
homedrive-mapping and roaming profiles doesn't work. This doesn't happen
everytime, but quite often.
And after login users can map their homedrives manually.
Users have following attributes in LDAP directory:
sambaHomePath: \\server\homes
sambaProfilePath: \\server\homes\profile
When I change users attributes to
sambaHomePath: \\server\username
sambaProfilePath: \\server\username\profile
The problem disappears.
So it must be the homes-sh...

Hi there!
This is my second message in two weeks. I am regretting to get ride of my

then to R-1.9.0 I am experiencing diffulties I never faced before. Professor
Ripley and Dr. Murdoch had helped with the "Fatal Error. HOMEDRIVE." Another
problem I am now facing is that R is not reading any matrix if I do not
