Fatal Error: Invalid HOMEDRIVE
...unning since it was released. Yesterday morning when I tried to start Rgui.exe I got the subject error message. Since I live at the whim of the network administrators I can only assume it was a recent MS critical update. I tried installing R-1.9.0 but no joy. I created ".Renviron" with HOMEDRIVE and HOMEPATH values set appropriately (see bat file below) but this did not solve the problem either. The following did work: Create batch file MyRBat.bat ---start--- SET HOMEDRIVE=D: # for some reason "echo %HOMEDRIVE%" returns "C:" even when I set the install path to D:...

Permission on homedrives..?
Hi I've got a samba PDC (samba 2.2.3a, RH 7.2, kernel 2.4.17, client is WinXP pro). I have a question about the homedrives-part in smb.conf. Are the homedrive shares set up to allow access exclusively to the appropriate user and no-one else ? My smb.conf looks like that [homes] comment = Home Directories browseable = no writable = yes valid users = %S create mode = 0664 directory mode = 0775 w...

Homedrive mapping
Hello everyone, We are making extensive use of the homedrive mapping fields in AD. (automagically mapping a drive letter to a UNC path without a logon script) Since we sp2 applied to our clients, none of them have been able to map their home drives to our samba servers. According to Microsoft's q-article, http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?sci...

invalid HOMEDRIVE
Hi all- Some recent change...perhaps a windows update, or perhaps a change in the network on which I use my computer....has made it impossible for me to start R. When I try to start the program, I get a message that says "Fatal error: invalid HOMEDRIVE". Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks much Chris ******* Chris Solomon Center for Limnology Univ. of Wisconsin (715) 356-9494

...rstand why exactly this path. Reading the R FAQ for Windows, it says that 'R_USER' is used as the default value for the home directory. Where/when is this set, and how? I don't set it myself. It looks like it is set equal to 'HOME' and if that is not set, the to the default %HOMEDRIVE%\%HOMEPATH%\My Documents\, e.g. M:\>set HOME= M:\>Rterm --quiet > Sys.getenv("R_USER") R_USER "C:\\Documents and Settings\\hb\\My Documents" M:\>set HOME=%HOMEDRIVE%\%HOMEPATH% M:\>Rterm --quiet > Sys.getenv("R_U...

Invalid HOMEDRIVE
Attempting to install the most recent R on a Windows/XP machine, I get what appears to be a normal (completely default) installation. Then when I attempt to load rgui I get the fatal error message: Invalid HOMEDRIVE. ask for help
...er of using R. I am involved in some microarray data analyses and found that R is the most common software in this area. I tried to install the free software today. It seemed to be successful in installing, but when I trigger the short-cut, I got a error massage saying 'Fetal error: invalid HOMEDRIVE'. I have no idea where the homedrive was defined (or implied) and how to solve the problem. I wonder if someone could help me to start the first step of this fancy trip. Many thanks! When I try to start R from my desktop, an "information"-window pops up: "Fatal error: Invalid HOMEDRIVE". I already deleted and reinstalled the program, but the problem lasts. setwd in windows
...environment variable|HOME|is set, its value is used. After those two user-controllable settings, R tries to find system-defined home directories. It first tries to use the Windows "personal" directory (typicallyC:\Users\username\Documents). If that fails, if both environment variables|HOMEDRIVE|and|HOMEPATH|are set (and they normally are), the value is${HOMEDRIVE}${HOMEPATH}. If all of these fail, the current working directory is used. getting R 1.8 or 1.9 to work!?
...y with R; can anyone offer any advice? First with R 1.8.1. on XP Pro: "R for Windows GUI front-end has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." I then tried installing 1.9.0. and got the "information" dialogue: "Fatal error: INVALID HOMEDRIVE" instead of a functioning R! I attempted to set HOMEPATH via XP user accounts and advanced...- but all I still have is the following: Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600] (C) Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp. C:\>set home HOMEDRIVE=C: HOMESHARE=\\concol\concol$ , and the start...

upgrade 3.0.1 -> 3.0.2, problem with homes-share
Hi! We are using Samba 3 in SuSE-linux 8.2 with ldap. After upgrading from 3.0.1 to 3.0.2 we got following problem: When users log-in homes-share is not allways reachable, so automatic homedrive-mapping and roaming profiles doesn't work. This doesn't happen everytime, but quite often. And after login users can map their homedrives manually. Users have following attributes in LDAP directory: sambaHomePath: \\server\homes sambaProfilePath: \\server\homes\profile When I change...

as.double.default()
Hi there! This is my second message in two weeks. I am regretting to get ride of my R-1.4.1! In fact, since I upgraded to R-1.8.1 (directly from R-1.4.1) and then to R-1.9.0 I am experiencing diffulties I never faced before. Professor Ripley and Dr. Murdoch had helped with the "Fatal Error. HOMEDRIVE." Another problem I am now facing is that R is not reading any matrix if I do not specify as.numer(). For instance, if I want to operate on matrix M I need to write operation_intended(as.numeric(M)) otherwise I got the following message "Error in as.double.default(): object cannot be c...
