Configuration Questions
...seem like a reasonable request? Although we do not use NIS, it would be nice if the users' home server did not have to automount the local filesystem in order to export it to the Samba clients. For example, /etc/passwd lists /home/armstron and the file /etc/auto.home has "armstron\tnimrod:/home01/armstron". Under Unix, the user connects to any server with this map and the home follows him or her. Under Samba this is also the case, but it would be nice to lock the user to his/her home server by specifying his/her home as \\nimrod\homes and using the %p parameter so the home directory ex...

So, can anyone tell me what is happening and why? -- *** E-Mail is

coxme in R underestimates variance of random effect, when random effect is on observation level
...l, is this a mathematical problem or a coding issue? 2) Is there any literature/R packages that look specifically at random effects applied on the observation level? Many thanks for any solutions/or references which may be helpful. Reproducible example here (using coxme): setwd("/mnt/ja01-home01/mbrxsap3/phd_risk/R/p4_run_analysis/") library(coxme) library(survival) ### Create data with a group level random effect simulWeib.group <- function(N, lambda, rho, beta1, beta2, beta3, beta4, rateC, sigma, M) { # covariate --> N Bernoulli trials x1 <- sample(x=c(0...

LVM repairing or back to regular ext3?
Can anyone point me in the right direction for correcting errors on an HD when using LVM? I've tried e2fsck and indicates bad block. I've tried with -b 8193, 16384, and 32768 and no good. I've found some info about reiserfsck on google, but this utility doesn't seem to be included in Centos4.3. I did find it on my old FC1 box. I am thinking now I really should have went with
