Beware: Samba is a hoax
I can only conclude that Samba is an elaborate hoax and here's why.
1) Setup is more complex than Sendmail (it set the standard for complexity)
2) Even the simplest smb.conf causes trouble
3) You can pass ALL the tests in the DIAGNOSIS procedure, AND
Samba will still not let you SHARE FILES or SHARE PRINTERS between Windows
and Unix
but you W...

Final Solution [was] Samba is a Hoax
Many thanks to all the Samba fans for your ideas and suggestions.
Eventually all the indicators pointed at a W95 client that was (somehow)
selectively working with everything except Samba. I took out my W95 repair
tools (fdisk & format) and after a new install (and setting the registry to
use plaintext passwords) everything worked fine. When I also re-installed
all the other M$ patches,

Replay mail to test MTA + filtering
Hi All,
My kit : Centos4.4 + Postfix + SA + ClamAV (not that its relevant)
General question - Does anyone know of a product which can take a folder
/ mbox
of mail (spam, ham, virus infected stuff, scam mail and hoaxes) and
"replay" it back
against a test server to determine the servers ability to filter?
I have looked at some low level (IP) packet replayers, but i cant really
find anything suitable
at the mail/smtp level.
It would have to "simulate" connections from external IP addresses...

I read somewhere that this message is a hoax and that
the drive should actually work in UDMA150. Is this my case?
I also checked the source of ata-dma.c:
Here is the section.

in-memory SQLite for testing
I am following the rails book, and arrived to the section about

Port forwarding/DNAT of broadcast packets?
Hi folks,
Has anyone out there done port forwarding or DNAT for UDP packets that
are normally sent to the broadcast address (255.255.255.255)?
I have to support a nasty database application called FileMaker Pro
(those of you who know it are probably groaning about now), which uses
broadcasts to locate the database server. Theoretically, i can get
around this requirement by using LDAP lookups

Outlook 2003 duplicates UIDL
Hi
I have Redhat ES4.0 with dovecot-0.99.11-2.EL4.1 installed.
Reading a post Outlook Duplicates issue is still killing me, there seems to
be asolution to this, I was wondering when this will be available on redhat
es40?
# Note that Outlook 2003 seems to have problems with %v.%u format which is
# Dovecot's default, so if you're building a new server it would be a good

The bug I reported earlier seems to have been a hoax of sorts. =] The share(s)
I tried it on had full access passwords, but no read-only passwords.
Sorry about this.

Way to go YubNub! It''ll be interesting to see:

2) How your rails app holds up to the slashdotting.

firefox and IronPort
A couple of weeks ago, I got an autogenerated email from the mail folks
here, telling me they'd quarantined what they thought was spam. The last
time I got one of these was a month or month and a half ago, and I had no
problem.
This time, however, I get a 500 error. When I pulled up firefox's error
console, and clicked on the link, I got
