ZFS/UFS/TMPFS and extended attributes inconsistent behaviour

Hmn, slightly strange since I would have thought that given write
to the file I could write attributes. ZFS is consistent in this
because the default ZFS ACL does not have everyone@ having write_xattr.
Maybe not quite what one would expect.
Okay now in another window change the ownership of this w...

On-write Automatic Snapshot
Apologies if this has been addressed, but looking at some of the sun
blogs and google searches I have not been able to find an answer.
Does ZFS support on write automatic snapshots?
For example, according to defined policy, every time a file is written
a snapshot is created with the diff stored. I can see this being
useful in high security environments and companies that have extreme

ZFS quotas & zoned datasets
...ne admin did.
Time to clamp down on the usage by zone player2
pingpong:pts/1# zfs set quota=10g table/player2
pingpong:pts/1# zfs get quota table/player2/round1

table/player2/round1 quota 20G local
Hmn so the dataset that the local zone admin created has a higher
quota than the one that contains it. Thats strange and not what I
wanted.

Noise on FXS ports (Sangoma)
Hi:
I have a Sangoma A200 card installed in a server with two FXO modules
and one FXS module.
Analog sets connected to the FXS module have a "squeaky static" -- it's
like static mixed with the sound of someone vigorously cleaning a window
a few doors down.
In other words, it's not a classic static noise, but it is noise, and
it's distracting. Remote callers can hear this

Vectorize 'eol' characters
Dear R users,
When dumping an R matrix object into a file -- typically via the 'write.table' function -- the 'eol' option can be used to specify the end-of-line character(s) which should appear at the end of each row.
However the argument to 'eol' seems to be restricted to have length 1, whereas ideally I would like different rows to be written to file each with its own

Is anybody testing mongrel on ruby 1.9. I just tried installing

Trouble creating mingw binary
Hi,
I''m trying to build a binary for win32-open with a mingw install but
I''m having trouble. I''ve installed MinGW 5.1.6 and I''ve got gcc, etc.
But, when I run "ruby extconf.rb; make" I get the following error:

Mongrel as Windows service with normal privileges
I am trying to run Mongrel 1.1.5 with mongrel_service 0.3.4 on Ruby
1.8.6 with a "normal" user account, i.e. a user which belongs only to
the Windows group "Users". The rationale behind this is that running a
web server with full administrative rights (e.g. Local System) is not
something that I would like to do.
Unfortunately, starting the service from the services control

With the system I've outlined, there is no reason to cheat. There's
no need to fake listener counts because it's not there. Certainly
people can make this available in the 'description' field, ie, how

Hmn, no, no one that I know is always live - though the distinction of the
two is the desire I want to get across, I see your point; with TTL your live
stream can expire to be replaced with the prerecorded one with new data - but
would that not once again place reliance on the description field to g...

Best practice Ruby on Rails on Windows configuration
Hi,
I have read many articles on the net today about configuring Ruby on Rails
on a Windows server. But there doesn''t seem to a one solution for all on how
to configure a new Ruby on Rails server. So I can use some advise with this.
I am using a Windows 2003 server and don''t get many request a day. But most
of the request are quite heavy. The main focus is on optimizing the

PRI Setup problem
Hi everyone,
I'm trying to get a Sangoma A101D-X card talking to a Sasktel PRI
(Megalink) circuit and having some trouble getting it to handshake.
Thanks for any help or suggestions to diagnose this problem.
The problem is that Asterisk has trouble bringing up the link. I see
the following lines every couple of minutes:
