hme0 interface going up/down (dhclient ?)
Hi all,
I am having an issue where my hme0 interface is always turning up and down with dhclient requesting a lease.
I am thinking this could be the same issue described by Jeremy Chadwick on June 9th:
http://lists.freebsd.org/pipermail/freebsd-stable/2013-June/073711.html
Everything was fine on 8.2-STABLE and older versions....

Q: Solaris, two interfaces, outgoing smb fed throug 'wrong' interface!
Hello!
Problem:
Outbound data goes through default interface instead of specified,
causing congestion.
Question:
How can I instruct samba to tell Solaris to SEND data through specified
network interface?
Detailed:
I have a solaris filesserver with two network interfaces, hme0 and hme1.
I'd like NFS to use hme0 and smb hme1. I intsruct samba to only listen
for connections on the IP-address associated with eth1. (as os 2.0.6 I
actually specify interfaces=hme1, I also set socket address).
Both ports are connected (with unique ethernet numbers) to the same network

What is the problem here?
This samba is bound to hme0 but I have a samba.2.1-alpha running

[Bug 323] arp -n flag doesn't exist under Solaris, ssh_prng_cmds still uses it

A better solution is to install the pacthes that will support /dev/random and
/dev/urandom. Then recompile openssl and then openssh.
Solaris 8:
112438-01 patch for Sparc
112439-01 patch for x86
Solaris 9:
has standard /dev/random and /dev/urandom

2 samba server in same computer?
Hi
I am trying to find a way to run 2 samba PDC servers on the same computer.
One samba server is the one in production and the other will be used for
testing.
So far I have not found a way to do this, is it possible at all?
I only have one network card.

<p>Hi all,
I understand, what for a livestreamer can I take ? any references ?
A network question:
If I decrease the MTU (on hme0 interface is 1500) maybe it can be a solution
for my problem with broken streams?

for vorbis uses icecast2 and either ices2/oddcast etc, as they are
tested more.

ok, so it's solaris. Any MTU size issue would affect all connections not
just streaming, and changing the MTU size is typically a last resort,
usually because something else is not working correctly (for ex...

Is Samba over an IPSec tunnel possible?

A little more background. The localnet is 172.17.0.0/19 and the VPN
is 172.18.0.0/24. I modified the global interfaces setting in
smb.conf to read
interfaces = hme0 172.17.0.0/19 172.18.0.0/24
But that hasn't fixed things.
Is what I'm doing technically feasible/possible? Or is there some
basic deficiency in the SMB protocol that means that I can't actually
do this?
The idea is set up a slew of VPNs to a large number of regional

query_name_response error
Hello,
I've looked through multiple mailing list archives and cannot find an answer
to this problem, but have found many others who are having the same problem.
I hope this list can help.
I have a Solaris 2.7 server running Samba 2.0.5 with multiple interfaces:
hme0: 172.17.5.56 public
qfe0: 172.18.30.36 backup network
qfe1: 192.168.30.36 private
qfe3: 172.18.10.36 private
I have Samba running so that our application folks can access there "home
directories" by mapping the Unix directories from Windows clients.
Everything works dandy and the users d...

snort, postgres, bridge
I've been prowling through the FreeBSD and Snort list archives in
search of information on setting up snort on a FreeBSD bridge(4)
that logs to a remote postgres box via a third interface (hme0)
Snort is being started with the following command:
